presentation of the F 650 CS Scarver 2005
bM never does what everyone else does. When it comes to dusting off its single-seaters, the Bavarian manufacturer takes the opportunity to do a bit of an ant-heap. The new 650 Scarver not only dares with a singular stroke of the pen, it also combines several original technical solutions: a toothed belt to transfer the 50 hp of the fuel-injected Rotax engine, an aluminum monobracket, a catalyzed exhaust system; the fuel tank is lowered under the saddle to provide more storage space (stuff).the fuel tank drops below the saddle to create a stuff-bay that can accommodate various options, such as an audio system (at a surrealist price), an anti-theft spider to protect a helmet, a hard case, and so on... We've seen all this before on different bikes, but never all on the same model; and a mono one at that. But not just any bike. Extremely smooth, it's even more enjoyable thanks to a belt that attenuates the chain effect at low revs. Powerful for a mono, it's efficient but not showy. Its lack of character doesn't prevent it from taking the Scarver along at a good pace, with the chassis taking care to draw nice trajectories. The firmness of the damping comes as a surprise on a typical trail machine, but not for a supermotard. On good roads, the Scarver does its rider proud. The lively chassis and naturally responsive behavior of the single-cylinder motorcycle are an invitation to ride hard. The impossibility of adjusting the suspension and the braking system, which is powerful enough but not long-lasting enough, however, limits the scope for hard riding.
But they're not stupid at BM: there are a multitude of options to equip the Scarver, more or less useful and hardly cheap. ABS is optional (so much the better: too sensitive for the rear), as is the warning system (why is that?). The dashboard is not what you'd expect from a BM. It's practically complete, but the calligraphy is at c.... The concept is innovative, the machine sparkling and agile, but the execution deserves more attention. Especially since the F 650 CS is a BM, and its qualities cost
since 2004, the single-cylinder model has benefited from dual ignition, new colors and, above all, the Scarver can now be fitted with a top-case. So, surprise is good - listening and pleasing the people is even better.

The pluses: It's agile, responsive, easy to handle and economical (3.5L per 100), even though I'm revving it up. The minuses: As I've got a very good grip on it, it lacks a bit of peach. 75hp would be great. It heats up quickly on the freeway, but after all, it's a mono! In conclusion: I'm keeping it for the time being, but thinking of getting a more powerful bi. Happy motoring, everyone! Rating : 4/5 Respond to Sabine du 67

maintenance is very good, fuel consumption "tested over 1000 kms on all types of road" 3.89 liters. The bike itself is a real bike and especially great in the mountains Rating : 5/5 Respond to charles
Very comfortable, lively, high-performance. Stuff-bag top case has changed my motorcycling life. Fuel consumption between 4.1 and less than 5 l/100 with the latest dual-ignition model. ABS a little sensitive at the rear, but of no consequence. Too bad: image of a girl's bike or no image at all.
A future as a collector's item, like the C1 scooter or the K1 (BMW is expected where the brand has built up its legitimacy!) Rating : 4/5 Respond to Herrade
Vive la rigueur Allemande Rating : 4/5 Respond to Ugo EL Pulpo
seat a bit hard, but otherwise a lot of fun to ride, extra BALANCE of the chassis, engine that's always peachy, calm 2-3000rpm on a ride 50-75km/h, then full of energy 4-6000rpm 100-150km/h when the engine is hot and you need to do some riding.
a stunning, fun motorcycle that's well worth a detour, for traveling
In the Paris region, I keep my SR125 for work and the suburbs, as it's lighter and more serene in heavy traffic. (120,000km of experience in 10 years, 3rd SR, I'm 62 and got my A licence at 60)
