presentation of the Mana 850 NA 2007
aprilia strengthens its position on the hot roadster front. The Tuono is in place, and now it's time to attack the heart of the market: the mid-range. And the best way to get noticed quickly is to offer something new, something curious, something technological.
the Mana 850 will do just that, and not just for fans of twin-cylinder roadsters. More than just a new Italian machine, it's also the first roadster with an automatic gearbox. Well, almost. A prototype was unveiled by Gilera a few years ago: the Ferro 850, with a different face but very similar technical solutions.
Of course, there's already the Yamaha FJR 1300 AS, also equipped with an automatic gearbox (sequential would be more accurate). But the Mana is aimed at a much wider audience, who will certainly be delighted to discover the virtues of automatic transmission, especially in town.
at the controls of the Mana, you have several choices. Case n°1: you select a driving mode - Tourism, Sport or Rain - you drive, and the electronics take care of the rest.
Case n°2: you want to play with the gearbox and small controls (or the selector, as you prefer). Switch to manual, forget the clutch, and enjoy the 7 gears available. This succession of gears, married to a brand-new 839 cm3 V-twin, is sure to influence a smoother, more pleasant ride.
although the attributes suggest a marked predisposition for sport - inverted forks, radial brakes, trellis frame, typical MV-Agusta Brutale headlight), the emphasis seems to have been placed on user-friendliness. This is evidenced by the engine's "measured" power and torque, their availability being more favored in the intermediate revs; as well as the presence of a large trunk hidden beneath the false tank, capable of accommodating a full-face helmet. "How do you fill up the tank? Well... Well, you lift up the rear seat. lol!".
aprilia's approach is courageous and deserves more than just interest. Disrupting the habits of motorcyclists is no easy task, but isn't that the way to make a name for yourself?

Owner of a RSV1000R, mill 2007, this mana deserves to be tested, I'm not much for "ride by wire" but this type of transmission appeals to me especially in urban areas
Thank you Aprilia, the mana is about to replace my CB500, following the test ride I got from my dealer
Kind regards
