A few more horsepower since 2006 for the top-of-the-range RSV-R. It benefits from the same engine upgrades as the standard R, i.e. new electronic management, new exhaust valves and 5 extra hp. As ever, the only difference is in the chassis, with refinements such as carbon parts.

Fully suspended by Öhlins Racing components, the RSV-R Factory also features a twin-chamber steering damper from the same brand. The frame is painted a light golden color, as if to ensure continuity of color from one end of the rims to the other. These are forged aluminum wheels, 25% stronger and lighter than cast aluminum models. Since 2007, the exhaust tips have also been modified, and are now ovalized.

Down to 185 kg dry weight, the latest-generation RSV-R now weighs the same as the ultra-top-of-the-range version of a few years ago: the RSV 1000 SP (a jewel reserved for Superbikes).

OK, you've convinced me! My next bike will be an RSV... Factory. I've always had a soft spot for this aprilia, ever since it came out in '98. Since then, it's proved its worth. Beautiful and original, reliable, competitive, it doesn't lack much (I'm very demanding) to be at the top

i totally agree with italiano, I'm also on an rsv/r 2005, for example in the passes of the pyrenees no missile of 175hp and more, dares to follow for fear of the reactions of their rocket on wheels, don't forget that we use sportbikes more often on open roads than on circuits...think first of the sensations that a lively and playful motorcycle provides, rather than trying to pass the sound barrier on the outskirts of the big cities of France

All those who read this commentary will tend to believe that I'm a chauvinist, which isn't totally untrue, but frankly, when I hear all those who swear by Nippon petrolettes with their 175 bourins, the forced air! the red zone that never stops blushing...ok, ok, try an aprilia, savor the torque of this twin-cylinder, the bewitching character of acceleration and so on
What's more, the styling - and we won't be giving lessons in style to the Italians here - will render you speechless with admiration
As you may have gathered, I ride an RSV, and after all, for the amateur that I am, pleasure comes before performance
