presentation of the RS 660 prototype 2019
It's hard not to fall under its spell! With the RS 660, Aprilia has taken on a wacky, daring and impertinent challenge: a sportbike for pleasure, for trajectories, for fast jaunts, for the joy of sport without the stress of competition. Under the dredger of this medium-displacement RS, you can expect a lot of jousting and rimming.
The finesse, the speed, almost a touch of intoxication for this tigress. The RS 660 is immediately desirable. Like a feline, not ready to pounce, but already ready to make its mark on the road. Atypical, the Aprilia is not aiming for podiums, timesheets or awards. It's all about the excitement of riding.
Its engine is in the same vein. The manufacturer has (for simplicity's sake) cut its V4 in half to produce a compact, responsive little block. We won't get too far ahead of ourselves in terms of power figures, but we can discreetly speculate on 95 hp - which would enable this RS to be A2-rated and thus make the eyes of young licensees soft. But what will a few hundred horsepower do in the face of the massive 200 hp of the hypersports? They'll allow power to be harnessed by far more enthusiasts and/or experienced riders, with chiseled handling that's accessible to more people than the track monsters that overwhelm 99% of motorcyclists. Like a certain Norton Superlight, the RS 660 dreams of trajectory.

New engine, new frame. A double-spar aluminum perimeter structure channels the machine's potential. It uses the engine as a stiffening element. The all-aluminum swingarm appears to be derived from that of the 900 Shiver.
Electronics are also a must. The APRC package should not be too difficult to adapt to this reasonable size. Traction control, shifter, anti-wheeling and riding modes will certainly be included. And probably much more...
As for the Öhlins suspension and Brembo M50 calipers, let's not take them at face value - this RS 660 is only a prototype for the moment.
A prototype? Yes, but sufficiently advanced to expect much more than a simple demonstration exercise. If there is a final version, it will have to undergo a few modifications, but the essentials are there, ready for the hunt. Not supersports, nor medals; just those moments when you enter the bends with your right hand ready to weld.

Why all this technology for just 100hp?

i didn't put top because I haven't seen it ridden or tested, but I think it's likely to be my next bike.
at last, a manageable bike with an engine that's certainly full of goodwill and that, like a 1000, doesn't push you to the point of irreparability.
just one word: bravo, Italians, what a lesson for the other manufacturers (except Ducati with its new 1000) via l\'Italia Rating : 4/5 Respond to domi
