The RS 660has quickly become much more than the darling of Noale. It's THE little sportbike to envy, a fitness fan whose eyes sparkle at its plasticity, a motorcycle that's reviving a lost genre: a sportbike for the road, neither radical nor morose.

Which is not to say that it wouldn't be at home on a racetrack; quite the contrary. In fact, a Trofeo version has arrived to make the vibrators meow, along with a new challenge from the brand. Welcome to the Aprilia Racing RS 660 Trophy. A cup that will take place within the Italian CIV speed championship. Interested drivers will be able to enter this RS 660, specially prepared by the Aprila Racing department. A welcome addition to the Factory Works program.

From here, two options are available. Drivers can choose to buy the bike as a ready-to-race version / or take the 'Aprilia Racing Area' package.

In the former case, a cheque for 18 grand is exchanged for a finely tuned RS 660 Trofeo. Thanks to the SC Project exhaust and Sprint Filter air filter, the little parallel-twin sends out an extra 5 hp, or 105. The power-to-weight ratio is greatly improved by the serious revs of the pistarde. The competition department was able to take 16 kilos off board. Let's face it, with only 153 kilos dry weight, this RS promises to corner at fearsome speeds.

The Trofeo has been upgraded in a number of respects, so that it can take to the track like a little killer: an inverted fork prepared by Andreani with Öhlins components, a rear shock absorber also by Öhlins - model AP948, more racing pads for the Brembo calipers, a Cruciata Racing fiberglass fairing decorated by Zanasi Bodywork, Spider Racing controls, adjustable back plates, a set of half-handlebars fitted under the fork crown, housing protectors and a pair of Pirelli Supercorsa V3 SC1 gum shields.

as the Trofeo doesn't have any road-going pretensions, Aprilia has simplified its electrical circuit and braking system. The ECU has been reprogrammed in a 'Race' version, for track use only, and adapted to the racing exhaust system. The TFT screen is reprogrammed and controlled by racing-style buttons.

It no longer supports its thermostat, so that's the end of it. On the other hand, it has wisely acquired aluminum guards for its clutch and alternator housings.
All that's left is to take the truck, the tent, the mates and the maid to take part in the 6 rounds of the RS 660 Cup.

Or take the all-inclusive package and Aprilia takes care of everything. It's just a little more expensive: 34,900 euros. With that, you get

A branded cup and the bike to go with it, that's sure to attract vocations, and Aprilia intends to keep a close eye on the RS 660 Trofeo for new talent.
