presentation of the BN 600 R 2016

a Benelli 4-cylinder 600 roadster? That's shocking, especially from a manufacturer renowned for its characteristic engines and atypical displacements (3-cylinder 900, 1130, 899). Yet it's the next model bearing the Italian lion's signature that we'll be seeing in 2013... er, no, the bike doesn't show its nose until 2014. But it's a Benelli in name only, because this BN 600 R is a motorcycle direct from China.

originally, this machine is a Qianjiang... OK, I don't know much about that either, except that he's been the owner of Benelli since 2005 - free to use that brand to promote his models. And even if you don't often come across Quianjiang, let's not judge this company, which sells a million two-wheelers a year, too lightly.

so, it's a Chinese bike with Benelli branded on it. And technically, it promises to be interesting and sometimes surprising. First of all, there's the 4-legged engine, which makes sense on a Japanese bike, but much less so on an Italian. This 599cc, 16-valve, fuel-injected unit delivers a not-so-phenomenal 82 hp and 5.3 mkg. This cavalry is far from sufficient to tease the Street Triple or Hornet, the latter happily spitting out over 100 horsepower.
So where's the target? Mid-range roadsters, such as the ER-6n, Bandit, XJ6 or CBF 600.
The relative modesty of the available watts is a cause for concern. On the other hand, we can't help admiring the BN 600's equipment, which is virtually on a sports bike's level: a frame combining aluminum plates and tubular steel trellis, a huge 50 mm inverted fork (what's the point of such a big one?), 320 mm brake discs with 4-piston radial bearings, a swingarm as big as that of a CBR 600 RR, a 180 mm-wide rear tire; since 2015, Brembo, better tires, a Marzocchi fork, a Sachs amorto... It's strong stuff, the kind of gear you'd expect to find on a much more powerful track bike. Now, the quality of this equipment remains to be seen.

Benelli BN 600 R 2016 - 1Benelli BN 600 R 2016 - 1

not ugly, but not transcendent either, the BN 600 doesn't offer the striking, devastating style of an Italian. The pots under the seat, the sharp radiator scoops, the side-mounted shock absorber, the teardrop mirrors - the effects are there, but the boldness of the design doesn't catch on all that much, and the identity is still in the making. Only the headlight offers a link with models already in widespread use (not in our country), such as the Generic CODE 125, 150 and 200 S or X, itself somewhat inspired by the 1130 / 899 TnT from Pesaro.

originally, this Benelli was to be advertised at a shock price, which would allow it to stand out both for its sporty roadster equipment and its basic motorcycle price. In the event, the price couldn't remain breathtaking and falls within the segment's range. But what is it worth in terms of dynamics, quality and finish? China enters the medium-displacement segment - how will this Chinese production surprise us?

If you take a closer look at the engine, you'll recognize the characteristic shapes of the Honda 600 block from the 1998 Hornet model, itself derived and deflated from the CBR600 PC25 model from 1991 to 1994: http://images.mcn.bauercdn.com/upload/861/images/mhorn1998sra-01.jpg Rating : 1/5

I have a cbf600 that I'm looking to renew, I went to try the BN600R without apriori, result:First correction, the "R" is built in Italy the "I" intended for A2 license in China but does not have the equipment of the "R". The choice of a four-cylinder engine and the design are less Latinized, since BENELLI products have been destined for the global market since the takeover in 2005.
The result of my test ride was that this is far from a calf for a 600, and it has its own engine character, but what's misleading is that the size and chassis could have handled a lot more grunt. The engine's sound is brilliant, with plenty of torque at low revs, and it sings as you rev it up. On the road, the chassis works wonders. In town, unlike the other Italians, the turning radius is very good, and the gearbox is a real treat - in fact, it's the engine's strong point. Well-spaced, it shifts on the fly without any noise or dead spots. It's not a DUCATI, but the spirit of the Italian motorcycle is there, in the chassis design, the polished finish, the superb mechanical parts, the folding ignition key and many other details (apart from the four cylinders). There aren't many 600s of this level on the market, and it's well worth the price. Above all, don't compare it to an ER6, Gladius, CB 650 f or EXJ6. It's not the same spirit that emanates from this bike, which, in addition to being a pleasure to ride, gives you a taste for beautiful, well-finished objects. It's more akin to a TRIUMPH-style motorcycle. Fearing that my personal appreciation would be distorted by the habit of my more bland cbf 600, I went to try out an APRILIA SHIVER the next day, and there's no mistaking it, I enjoyed the BENELLI more. This will be the replacement for my CBF600. Clarification on the number of cylinders: historically, Benelli made 750s with 6 cylinders.
The question is whether the fact that BENELLI has been bought by a Chinese company will change the spirit and culture of the manufacturer.
Not yet on this model in the "R" version, but I'm less sure than I was when I saw the BN302 copy of the ER6 in 300CC.

Everything but the engine seems to have been copied from the APRILIA SHIVER: chassis, swingarm, under-seat exhaust. CHINA, land of plagiarism.... Rating : 1/5

Aprilia was bought by a Chinese group ;).

If we have a bad opinion of the quality of Chinese products, it's largely due to the importers who have emerged on the market with low-quality products.

Now the motorcycle suffers from no problems and the quality is very satisfactory according to the foreign media.

The Chinese are on the rise (there's also the nk650), and we'll have to deal with that and stop being so prejudiced
