presentation of the DB8 1198 SP 2012
the DB8 SP is a more luxurious version of the Rimini hypersport. With its 1198 cm3 twin, DB7 colors and the return of carbon trim parts and a self-supporting seat, Bimota's sportiest bike combines the best of the DB7 and DB8. The Bologna-sourced twin-cylinder engine delivers the same 170 hp as the Ducati 1198. A distinctive Walbro fuel injection system changes the way it throbs, while Zard has developed a special titanium exhaust system. More than the engine, it's the Bimota chassis and its selection of high-quality parts that catches our attention.
the frame, like the swingarm, bears the company's signature: a superb set of tubular structures linked by openwork aluminium plates cut from the mass. Introduced on the DB5 in 2005, this chassis is as stunning and distinctive as ever. No Öhlins elements on this SP (given the price, we'd have appreciated their presence), but a 43 mm Marzocchi inverted fork and an Extreme Tech shock absorber.
as one of the most expensive sports bikes on the market, this DB8 SP boasts a host of effectivethe DB8 SP is one of the most expensive sports bikes on the market, with a host of efficient (Brembo radial monobloc brakes, OZ Racing forged aluminum wheels) and luxurious (carbon and cut aluminum parts) features. More than a track machine, the Bimota 1198 DB8 SP is one of those machines that you dream of owning rather than riding.
