presentation of the CE-02 2024
It's a scooter... ? Maybe, but frankly, it doesn't look like one. It looks more like a street-fun concept bike.
In any case, it's electric, a little strange, intriguing, and BMW is giving itself good reason to tickle the commuter's rhythm with this CE-02. Presented as an "eParkourer", this hybrid between the roadster, scooter and fun-bike categories aims to establish itself on the streets and in fan-zones.
With its square face, iconoclastic design, robotic belly and convoluted look, the CE-02 arrives like an influencer in the court of techno-chic urban machines. It's unprecedented, disturbing for some, ultra-trendy for others, and necessarily remarkable. BMW is accelerating its conquest of a young public and of city dwellers with a libertine-mechanical profile.
Mechanical, but not thermal. The future is hailed as electric (and rightly so?), and the CE-02 relies on this energy to carry its crew. Given the dimensions of the very flat saddle, the passenger will need to have a pelvis and/or a shrimp's size to settle in with an ounce of comfort.
All in all, you won't go unnoticed on this machine. Lightweight, it promises to be dynamic and easy to ride. The low seat height means that everyone can put their feet firmly on the ground.
A USB-C socket is present, and the instrumentation is minimalist, but is complemented by an app that allows the smartphone to become the secondary instrument panel. In the age of the fully connected, this symbiosis is a good thing. Especially given the target audience. But for that, you need the Highline package. We'll come back to that later.
The CE-02 is available in several versions. The most affordable, both in terms of price and power, comes with 5 hp and can be driven from the age of 14. It has a speed limit of 45 km/h and weighs slightly less (119 kg) than the "adult" model. But what kind of kid would put almost 8,000 francs into this kind of machine....
The stronger model, with its 15 hp, is right up there with the 125 equivalent. It has a top speed of 95 km/h, and a claimed range of 90 km, but the CE-02's torque is what makes it so much punchier than a smaller bike. In both 4 kW and 11 kW versions, the torque is 5.7 mkg. The same strength as a BSA Gold Star with a 652 cm3 engine. What's more, this torque is immediately available, guaranteeing a quick and invigorating take-off.

The CE-02 comes standard with two riding modes, "Flow" and "Surf". The first is designed for downtown riding, while the other is faster for fun away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It also features reverse gear, Keyless Ride for starting without taking the keys out of your pocket, and ASC traction control.
As always, the cream on BMW's cake is optional. This is the Higline pack mentioned earlier, bringing a third (punchier) "Flash" riding mode, Bluetooth control interface, heated grips, smartphone holder, 1500 W* fast charger, "Cosmic Black 2" color, Pro saddle and BMW teleservices. This neo-scooter-electro-city is approaching the 10,000-buck mark.
Storage space? You'll need a backpack. Or look (again) at the options.

* Charging time is advertised at 2 h 40 to go from 20% to 80% with the standard 900 w charger. This time is reduced to 1 h 40 with the 1500 W charger. For a full charge, it's much longer: over 5 hrs or 3 hrs 30 depending on the charger. For the 15 hp CE-02.
