presentation of the F 900 GS Adventure 2025

There are many ways to experience the GS: from 310 to 1300 cm3. In this wide range, only two models can claim the Adventure designation, to take you from the dawn of forests to the twilight of horizons. The R 1250 GSA and this F 900 GSA.

900 ? Yes, all BMW's mid-size trails are changing this year. The F 900 R and XR block has been appropriated for a higher displacement. Technically, it's a 2 mm increase in cylinder bore that allows the parallel twin to pump up its muscle to 895 cm3. More cubic capacity is often synonymous with a good dose of extra torque, but not here: 42 cm3 more for just 1Nm more, i.e. 93 nm / 9.5 mkg in all. But with a more "consistent" curve, according to the manufacturer.

the brand, I should say; the engine is built by Loncin. Let's forget these geographical considerations and quantify the engine's big advance: 10 extra horsepower. F 900 GS models now boast 105 horsepower. The gearbox controls have also been improved. Enough to ride in all conditions without a second thought. The Adventure is thinking of broadening its range of investigations, with specific features between the present and the past.

Greater protection, a 23-liter fuel tank - 8.5 liters more - crashbars, a luggage rack and a predisposition for suitcases significantly increase its range of action and enhance its degree of boldness. The bubble is adjustable, hands are protected, and USB and 12V sockets are available for recharging nomadic devices. In short, it's all there for the taking. Also of note are the adjustable clutch lever and foot controls.

It's immediately obvious that the F 900 GS and the Adventure are not thinking along the same lines. The design differences are obvious. And with good reason: the former has been completely redesigned, while the latter borrows almost all the aesthetics of the F 850 GS Adventure. Only the side panels have changed, adopting a more compact format. As a result, we suspect that it doesn't benefit from all the improvements of its sister.

Exactly. It doesn't benefit from its spectacular weight reduction (14 kg), nor from a new plastic fuel tank, still less from the lighter swingarm and rear loop, nor from the standard Akrapovic silencer. BM has nonetheless managed to shave 2 kilos off its weight, while adding a few new features. Heated grips and an aluminum engine block are now standard equipment.

What it shares with the standard 900 GS, however, in addition to its frame, wheels, brakes and engine, is the new Showa upside-down fork with multiple settings. The Adventure finally gives users the chance to fine-tune their damping. The old one was not subject to criticism, but enlightened enthusiasts will appreciate the possibility of adjusting the chassis. Its travel is unchanged since the 850, at 230 mm and 215 mm. This is a sine qua none condition for exploring all types of road and not getting stuck in front of an ordinary baobab lying on the road. In fact, the seat height (875 mm) is not the most accessible.
It's still possible to have a suspension that adjusts automatically with ESA Dynamic, but for that you'll have to visit the options section.

BMW F 900 GS Adventure
other options include keyless ride, center stand, shifter, cruise control, engine braking torque regulation, dynamic braking control and Pro riding modes (Dynamic / Enduro / Enduro Pro).
The F 900 GS comes standard with two of these, Rain and Road. The electronic package also includes curve-active ABS Pro, traction control, a dynamic brake light and a highly attractive 6.5-inch TFT color instrument panel. The Connectivity screen keeps track of on-board, driving and telephone information. The system displays incoming calls, lets you control music playlists and plan your route via the BM app and its turn-by-turn navigation.

Slightly better equipped, more powerful and slightly reworked, the F 900 GS Adventure continues to offer a reasonable alternative to the R 1250 GSA. Reasonable.... for a BMW.

What happiness...
French Model 2025
I've owned this bike for 7 months now and I don't regret my purchase at all. It replaced an aging K13S that was costing me license points on almost every trip. This GSA will open up other avenues for me, including the TT (after an internship with JPG) and allow me to travel further afield... Rating : 5/5
