presentation of the F 650 ST 2000
displaced by the F 650 GS, the F 650 remains a user-friendly urban single. Its engine, made by Rotax, is a close cousin of the Aprilia Pegaso's, but here equipped with a 4-valve cylinder head (5 on the Italian). The ST differs from the GS in that its equipment is more roadworthy: 18" front wheels instead of 19, short-travel rear suspension, reworked fairing and barely modified instrument panel. Comfort is present, the seat is soft, but the shock absorber is somewhat harsh. Prejudicial on rough roads. Protection is just right at sustained speeds; a high bubble is recommended if you want to carve up the road. The F doesn't just rely on its prestigious manufacturer to please - the machine is easy to handle, high-performance, easy to maneuver and a pleasure to ride every day.

i've had a BMW F650 strada since my A2 licence a little over a year ago and frankly I'm not disappointed. It's a bike that's easy to handle, pleasant to ride every day... Even more so since I fitted the high bubble and handguards.
I had to change and relocate the cruise control because it doesn't ventilate well under the seat.
As for the engine, it's really nice to have a big single that kicks out nicely.
The only downside is that it knocks under 3,000 rpm, but this can be remedied by fitting irridum spark plugs and changing the anti-parasitic devices.
I'd recommend this bike or its Funduro counterpart, which has a 19" Av wheel instead of an 18" for better off-road riding.
The BMW F650 is as affordable on the budget as it is on the maintenance front.

for everyday rides, it's the best.
for long trips, I ride a 1999 Hayabusa, which is also a treat. Rating : 4/5 Respond to marsupilami38
i acquired a F650ST in Sept 2013, and until Sept 2014 it was running well when it started to graze and stall. After pushing it for several kilometers because no trailers or breakdown assistance, I've never been able to get it running again, it has always presented dysfunctions and coughs, misfires and stalls on its own
I've been told that the carburetors need cleaning... it's true that I've driven 10,000 km without cleaning the carburetors, changing the spark plugs or draining the oil... I'll have to look into it when I have the time..

Same problem as Stiou.
It happened to me yesterday. Have you solved this problem since then? And if so, how did you do it?
I don't know much about mechanics. I could use a hand.
Thanks in advance.
