Seamless continuity. Is this the most powerful missile ever created by BMW Motorrad? No, the S 1000 RR is much more than that. The bike that launched Behemoth into the world of hypersports is slowly approaching a decade of power. And while its silhouette has changed little since it first appeared in 2009, it still knows how to provoke the same emotion. Engine-wise, the tone remains the same: overpower. And whether then or now, you still have to seriously hang on to its bracelets.

seriously overhauled in 2015, with optimized firepower and chassis, the Bavarian fighter is content with a "Euro4 update". What do you mean, "contented"? Yes, the time has not yet come for a complete overhaul. The S 1000 RR already has a lot to live up to. Its 4-cylinder engine has been adapted to comply with standards, without losing an ounce of vigour. Officially spitting out 199 horsepower - at the crankshaft or the rear wheel? ;-)-this block is still one of the nastiest on the market. It's a mill that's not content with churning out helmet-busting watts, it's also keen to make your spine tingle. An S 1000 RR has a real kick, and once the sprint is over, you'll feel like you've experienced something.

after giving the engine a run for its money with the pollution meter, the engineers can start fine-tuning the on-board electronics. Standard equipment includes three riding modes: Road, Rain and Race, plus Race ABS. The evolution of the S 1000 RR now offers traction control with angle sensor, a refinement previously available as an option. Its sensitivity can be adjusted to +/- 7 levels.
Speaking of options, what's in the catalog in terms of riding aids? Launch Control, Pit Lane Limiter and two additional driving modes (Slick and User). Now there's also ABS Pro, the anti-lock braking system that automatically modulates its power according to the angle of the bike. Always handy when the brakes are suddenly applied while you're half lying down in the middle of an attack.

BMW S 1000 RR 2018

The S 1000 RR "Euro4" retains the chassis and peripherals of the previous model, which had already undergone a number of modifications. These include the reworked aluminum perimeter frame, longer wheelbase, more aggressive front end and reduced weight (-4 kg). Efficient, taut, imperial, sporty. BMW is reinforcing this image, as this sports bike is now configured as a single-seater, with the seat cover and footrests removed. In fact, this is the best way to express its identity.
But what if you want to bring along the girlfriend, adrenaline junkie, eager to grab your leather?! Don't worry, just ask for the "passenger pack" when ordering - available free of charge as a factory option.
Be careful when browsing this section, though: it's easy to be seduced by BM options. Between DDC controlled damping, Pro Pilot Modes, heated grips, Shifter Pro (upshift & downshift), forged rims, speed regulator, HP adjustable controls, carbon parts, electronic tuning kit, muffler... Lots of cool stuff that won't leave you indifferent. But it all comes at a price.
For 2018, a complete line in titanium signed Akrapovic makes its appearance.

a few tweaks for the S 1000 RR, allowing it to assert its efficiency. It seems to fear neither time nor its rivals, who are increasingly overshadowing it. No matter. It remains a monster of power and a superbly accomplished tracker. Its only real shortcomings, if they can be considered as such, are the requirement of a serious level of riding to fully enjoy it, and an overly tempting list of options. But without being Troy Corser or Sylvain Barrier, the machine has what it takes to offer you some great sports sessions.
Unusually, with the technological and price inflation of its competitors, the BMW becomes one of the most affordable hypersport models - at base price, of course.

I just finished breaking in my 2018, mine is full options with hp line hp rims etc what can I say... it's a missile, this bike is really extreme in slick mode and traction control at -7 very beautiful and way too powerful except for the noise of the hp line too muffled for my taste really a dream this wheel Rating : 4/5
French Model 2018
Excellent bike. A true sports bike as we like them.
Exceptional engine behavior: torque at low revs and power at high revs. It's hard to leave the front wheel on the ground...
Efficient mapping modes
optimized settings thanks to optional packages
Pity the switch to Euro4, as engine noise is no longer the same

Hello,

I tested the 2015 vintage on the track
The noise was fabulous (detonation when shifting with the shifter, very pleasant ratatouille when cutting the throttle)
And all this with the original !!!!!! silencer

All this disappeared (or was greatly attenuated) with the Euro 4 (2017) changeover ????

It was a joy and made the bike even scarier..

In fact, this will be my future bike
I think the 2017 is gorgeous with its replica coloring
But I don't want it to be muffled sound-wise..

I'm not a fan of ridiculous noise, but a little detonation when going up a gear or a growl when decelerating, what a treat

If anyone can tell me..

Thank you.
