presentation of the 1200 R Nine-T 2019
The NineT is BMW's master stroke. A true motorcycle iPhone. Technically, nothing surpasses it, but it's a beautiful product, with a flattering finish, a strong premium feel and obvious emotion. The customer base has followed suit, making this bike a real pleasure/passion product, both expensive and desirable. In this age of evolution, the brand must flirt with the delicate exercise of renewal without losing what it has already acquired. The NineT plays the game, refines itself and retains all its enviable qualities. With a few appreciable bonuses.
Let's start with 2019. In other words, the arrival as standard of the 'Dynamic brake light'; a brake light that flashes differently depending on how you brake.
Now, let's see what distinguishes this phase II from the NineT. Those who were seduced by the first NineT will instantly find their feet. The design remains the same in every respect. The differences are in the details. New spoked rims, black for the swingarm, new levers for the handlebar controls, and a dashboard with separate meters, much more in the vintage spirit than the old instrumentation. As an option, the NineT takes on the spirit of customization. The special"Black storm metallic / Vintage" color emphasizes the manufacture character of the tank with a yellow application featuring the starting number "21". Hand-crafted, this application is distinguished by a refined worn look. The seat cover and passenger footstool are included in the package.
The second special color -"Blue planet metallic / aluminum" - emphasizes
the sophisticated classic character of the R nineT. The middle section of the fuel tank and seat cover is painted in Blue planet metallic with gold edging, starting with the hand-brushed, clear-coated aluminum fuel tank with weld bead and aluminum seat cover
Technically, it moves more. And mainly for dynamism. The fork from the S 1000 R is now (finally?) adjustable - in rebound, compression and preload. To make its roadster even more precise and homogeneous, BM has revised the geometry of the chassis. The wheelbase has been increased by 8 mm to 1,487 mm, while the steering head angle has been reduced from 64.5 to 63.2 degrees. This translates into an increase in headroom from 102.5 to 107.9 mm. Rigorous yesterday, the NineT will be even more so today.
To take full advantage of the old-generation Boxer engine. Why not opt for the latest twin-cylinder, more powerful, more technological, more.... because more messy. There's no water cooling, no hoses and no other trinkets. As a result, the engine retains its neo-retro look. However, the 1170 cm3 has been reworked to meet Euro4 standards. Adapted engine mapping and a modified exhaust system absolve the engine, while allowing it to retain its 110hp output. It's only the torque that's a little lacking. At 11.8 mkg, it loses 0.3 mkg in the process. Negligible. The German flat twin can continue to deliver its share of thrills without a care in the world.

The 1200 NineT retains its other technical attributes, namely braking provided by two 320 mm brake discs clamped4-piston radial calipers + 1 x 265 mm disc, 2-piston caliper - but the master cylinder is new - ABS as standard and ASC traction control as an option... And its 4-section modular frame; the passenger frame can be removed for a more distinctive look.
This motorcycle also assures its presence with a series of demanding parts: brushed aluminum fuel tank, fork crowns with conical bosses for screwing, forged aluminum footrests with glass bead blasted surface, then anodized to a high gloss.the BMW Motorrad badge is engraved on the handlebar clamping plate, and there's always the propeller logo tucked away in the middle of the headlight.
There's no reason why the success of the BMW 1200 NineT should wane. Head of a family of 5 models and initiator of the brand's Heritage movement, the bike is primed to continue its seduction of the market. A technical gargle that consolidates what has already been achieved, while adding a welcome touch of cheekiness.

comfort with heated wrists, it's true, but the rear suspension still needs to be perfected
saddle a little firm handlebars a little far away provide enough room to hang luggage
for long-distance riding !!!! Rating : 5/5 Respond to fi
i'd recommend it to anyone who doesn't want to wait until 10,000 rpm to get the thrills! Rating : 5/5 Respond to Réglisse
And yes, the old man is back on his old love, with all the technology and performance of today.
A fabulous machine of pure pleasure, especially in the Verdon gorges where it licks the asphalt like a queen. Rating : 5/5 Respond to chinoisvert317
2 other snags: the price (hot for a future retiree) and the color of the fork... Rating : 4/5 Respond to Interrogateur

I let myself be overtaken and rode right in front of the follower, savoring this choice morsel
Admittedly, it's a roadster, so it's hard above 130 km/hour, but the comfort, the lightness felt, the good braking with the abs allow me to think that, with a bit of practice, I'll be able to get the most out of it
think that with a bit of equipment
(fork head and Wünderlich casing protectors) and a net for my luggage, summer motorcycle camping in Europe, which I happily do with my 1200 GS, could be envisaged by shortening the stages a little. In short, I had a great time at the handlebars of this nice machine, with its flattering finish and noise, and very easy to ride. People in the villages we passed greeted this machine with unusually friendly reactions
I do have one criticism, however! The fork tubes are too golden for my taste. Grey or black would be more chic
It seems to me that I've tried the most accomplished neo-retro roadster on the market
I respect other manufacturers, but BMW's designers and engineers have done a good job, and I think with passion
Go and see it and try it before you say bad things about it. It deserves the respect of all those who designed, build and maintain it!
Drive with caution and circumspection

I've waited a long time for this model, and I have to admit that I have mixed feelings about it. Yes, the bike is beautiful, with lots of quality parts and fine workmanship.... but certain details irritate me. First of all, I find it a little too "loaded" with frills. I'd have liked more simplicity and sobriety. Then there's the exhaust, whether it's the original or the Akra: it's nothing like the rest of the bike! Where are the two superposed horizontal pipes of the proto? Next, and this is the biggest complaint I have about this bike: the spoked rims are very pretty, but I've learned that they're tube tires !!!!! Who are we kidding? Tubeless tires were invented to put inner tubes in the closet (haaa, the pleasure of sudden punctures that send you to the ground almost every time....) and thus increase safety, and now what's going on? BMW, a brand that puts safety above all else, allows itself to give us inner tubes?
In short.... I'd like to try out this bike, but too many more or less annoying details mean that I probably won't be buying it!

I've been seduced successively by the triumph classic, the commando se, the little continental GT royal enfield, but here, it's unbelievable, my favorite brand of which I'm very satisfied but which I find excessively austere is coming out with a machine worthy of a 70's café racer
With a helston's suit, davida helmet, aviator goggles and falcon half-boots, it will be possible to go back in time with elegance and celerity in a safe and reliable BMW environment
I give up smoking, drinking coffee, buying magazines and all that, and start saving money. There's no doubt about it, this is the neo-retro for me
