presentation of the R 1250 RT Exclusive 2020
A monument to Grand Touring, the traveler's choice, a road car par excellence, the BMW RT fears virtually no one. This is partly due to the fact that the competition is almost non-existent, having so disgusted it.
Yet it continues to evolve. Recently, it got a more powerful engine (135 hp and 14.5 mkg), with greater cubic capacity and variable intake. For 2020, the manufacturer is launching an over-equipped "Exclusive" special series, featuring virtually everything in the options catalog.
BMW motorcycles are like their cars. It's impossible to choose the basic model; enriching it with assortments is almost a ritual. The R 1250 RT Exclusive has had its fill of sweets, before being presented in an exclusive "Mineral Grey Mettalic" paint finish.
To pack as much as possible, it adds a 49-liter top-case to the standard suitcases. Then it's on to the packs. To put it simply, the 1250 RT takes them all:
- The 'Touring' pack, including heated saddles, cruise control, preparation for installing a GPS and ESA Dynamic pilot-controlled suspension.
- The 'Comfort' pack, adding central locking, a tire pressure sensor, a 12V socket, an alarm and chrome exhaust manifolds.
- and the 'Dynamic' pack, featuring Pro high beam, Pro driving modes (Dynamic mode + traction control) and daytime LED signature.
This BMW doesn't use cosmetic tricks with options 719 or HP, but that's not the end of the list. High-tech takes pride of place with Keyless Ride keyless start, a shifter that uses only the boot and not the left hand, an audio system (Bluetooth, MP3, iPod, radio, 2x15 Watts) and intelligent emergency call. The latter contacts the BM rescue center if you press the button or turn up the volume.
Is that all? Almost. A small pair of additional LED headlamps are a nice touch when the going gets rough.
I think we've got all the options. You'd think BMW wanted to make a show of this model. All that's left on the display is the sports bubble and chrome exhaust.
1500 examples of the R 1250 RT Exclusive will be sold, 500 of them in France. The price is 6,570 euros higher than that of the RT - an already highly presentable model, which you can see in detail here ->.
