presentation of the HP2 Megamoto 1200 PIKES PEAK edition 2009
one of the toughest hill climbs in the world, where machines and drivers can express themselves to the point of agony, is Pikes Peak. The aim is simple: to climb this 4,301 m American mountain on a stony track with 156 bends over 19.93 km and 1,440 m of ascent. BMW recently won the race in the 1200 category with its demonic HP2 Megamoto.
following this 85th edition of the Pikes Peak, the Bavarian brand will produce 40 examples of a Replica edition (but BM plans to make more depending on demand). Technically identical to the Megamoto, this HP2 Pikes Peak takes its paintwork and sponsors from the BMW USA Sierra machine. Behind this blue-white livery with red edging, the 113 hp of the Boxer 1200 is barely concealed, backed up by a virile chassis, Öhlins shock absorber and less than 200 kilos fully loaded.
rather nice, and reserved for Japanese customers. BMW is planning to export this replica for the Japanese market only. An American race-winning German sold exclusively to Japanese customers... quite a cosmopolitan vision.
