Motorcycle specifications BMWM 1000 XR prototype 2023 10% trail / 90% fighter plane

BMW sets the scene for its next M 1000 XR. Before unveiling a fearsome piece of road madness, a prototype will keep the public on its toes. The race for power has been sweeping motorcycle SUVs into its storm for some time now. This time, it's a step beyond the unreasonable.

between the S 1000 XR, the 1290 SuperAdventure and the Multistrada V4, it's a race to see who can spit out the most watts, with a somewhat deflated muscle compared to the hypersports. Not so with the M 1000 XR. Over 200 horsepower straight out of the box! Crazy, surreal, inexploitable, egocentric to the max.

to achieve this result, the most powerful XR uses the 4-cylinder engine with shiftcam technology found in the M 1000 R roadster and the M 1000 RR and S 1000 RR superbikes. It's a sick big block, capable of propelling you to Mars, even with a caravan strapped to your c... . No one has ever seen such power on this kind of machine, making the M 1000 XR the most powerful crossover on the market.

bMW has provided only the minimum details on this bike(with some pretty rotten pictures that only amuse the parent company's com' department), but enough to perceive the potential. First, the speed. The M XR tops out at around 280 km/h. In other words, it's a trail bike that can match the aspi of a Porsche Cayman. Next, a reduction in weight. It's only 3 kilos, but it's a small reduction, and it's a clear sign of our determination to optimize. Next, aerodynamics. The M 1000 XR has winglets, too. Implanted on the sides of the radiator, with a very relative elegance, the "fins" in their fairings will bring a little support to the front, just to calm the work of the traction control - M'ouais.... Don't lose sight of the fact that you're not riding a hypersport, but a maxi-trailer with a not exactly flattering cx.

reinforcing the brakes is a must. The S 1000 XR 's calipers have been replaced by M calipers; Nissin calipers derived from World Superbike equipment. The road will be severely bitten. Nothing has been announced about the electronics, but we can already guess at the standard shifter, and it's almost a given that traction, wheeling and engine braking control, several riding modes, keyless start, a nice TFT screen with additional functions... and some surprises, Mr BM?

the M 1000 XR will also come with a few goodies, including a sports bubble and brake fluid reservoir, and some carbon parts.... Will we find the Akrapovic exhaust system, set-back controls and M levers of the prototype? And the handlebar-mounted mirrors? Will the hard-wearing Endurance M chain be included?
We'll have to wait a few weeks/months to find out. Most of the BMW 2024 cartridges are still in the gun.
