presentation of the X1 1200 LIGHTNING 1999
Driving a Buell is an intense, thrilling experience, a source of rare, pure, wild emotions. A strong-tempered toy that ignores compromise, shakes things up and lets you share the rage in its belly. The X1 is the exact opposite of an XJR 1300. There's none of the voluptuous, hushed side of a 4-cylinder with its suppleness and good manners. This is raw American engineering. The Harley twin tumbled on the Lightning gets a nasty boost. Brought up to 95 bhp by the Buell workshops, the big mill develops incredible mid-range power.
unfortunately, the final drive ratio, imposed by homologation standards, puts a strain on the machine's performance. Annoying. Especially after having tasted the excellent roadholding and the vitality of the American ride... as long as you're on a billiard table. On less well-maintained roads, the suspension does an inglorious job. Although inverted, the forks can be overwhelmed by hard braking. The big front disc is not short of power.
To match the bike's strong mechanical personality, the design is particularly revealing. Stubby appearance, pot and shock absorber tucked away under the engine, virtually no passenger space - it's clear, it's got style. Forget the practical aspects, this machine is all about adrenalin. A motorcycle that demands passion, that's more lived than ridden.

My advice: give it a try..
Bonne route et good look ! Rating : 5/5 Respond to horsroad
after all that, let's overlook the flaws Rating : 5/5 Respond to buelldair
eh zouz you don't need 150hp to get a real kick out of it i've had an x1 buell for 76000km and 5 years only happiness and then with the shortened transmission qeulle patate
it's better to try it before signing the cheque because
either you love it, which is my case
or you don't want to do it at all. Every year, I go to dealership open-houses and try to find a car that suits your needs
i've never found a bone, but I've rarely found the breasts to take pleasure at a reasonable pace
oh, I forgot, I used to ride a 900 cbr, a truck suppo, because you get so used to driving fast
with my archaic, the insurance cost has been divided by 2.5, while pleasure has greatly improved, except of course on the freeway
by the way, I've just discovered your site, and my opinion is very good
