presentation of the 300 SR 2020
If I say Chinese sportswomen, many of you will think of over-trained young gymnasts, but not of a bike ready to file down vibrators. However, the idea is gaining ground and the seed is starting to take root in the asphalt. We're still a long way from hypersport, but this CF Moto 300 SR is far-sighted for its market.
Based on the 300 NK roadster, this little CF Moto sportbike looks great. The SR 300 is a far cry from the cliché of the Chinese motorcycle made from odds and ends to be bought in a supermarket. It and its 250cc sibling show off the Hangzhou-based manufacturer's sporty side.
Of course , it's made for Asia. With a displacement and size to match. Beneath this replica pistard suit lies a 294 cm2 single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-valve, ACT twin with Bosch injection. It produces a maximum of 29 hp, giving an output of almost 100 hp/liter. That's decent, but there's still work to be done to catch up with the Japanese mechanicals. Torque barely exceeds 2.7 mkg at 7,250 rpm.
While it's not enough to make the stopwatch shudder, it does have its points. The sleek, well-designed front features LED headlamps, the R1-stylerear end is a real eye-catcher, and the dashboard plays the high-tech card with a color TFT screen. It automatically switches to day or night mode according to light conditions, has two display themes (Sport or Eco), and can be connected to a smartphone.

Is the 300 SR a threat to the 300/400 Japanese sports bikes already in action on our shores?
- Not really, no. For the simple reason that there are no plans to import it. Secondly, technically, it's no match for the competition.
- Not yet. China is progressing; fast. The 300 SR's technical lag is set to narrow. What's more, it could be aggressively priced. And while its chassis and powertrain are likely to dampen enthusiasm, its plastic may well pretend otherwise.
