presentation of the 797 Monster + 2017
For a while, the little Monster disappeared from the catalog. This was a challenge, because anyone wanting to enter the Italian roadster clan had to take the first step with the 821, which already had a strong engine. And anyone with no taste or appetite for neo-retro could not find salvation with the Scrambler. The verdict is in: the return of an affordable, air-cooled youngster is a wise move.
We find the charm of the Desmodue, a timeless silhouette, a playful and mischievous side, power in line with its spirit of discovery of sensations, few electronics (ABS and injection will suffice), comfort, and a few regrets for those who remember the 796. What happened to the single-arm? And the fewer horses.... has time been so greedy?
All of which brings us to the 797 Monster +. It offers more, logically, but not in abundance. It's more like a style pack. The front end gains in confidence with the addition of a small windscreen. At the rear, Ducat adds a seat backrest to give the whole a sporty feel. These two trim elements are in the same tone as the bodywork. The extra cost is reasonable, given the initial price of an M 797. Perhaps that's its main handicap.
Italian styling and chassis with MT-07 flair, for a price higher than that of an 800 Street Triple S, gives enthusiasts time to think.
