presentation of the SCRAMBLER 800 Desert Sled Fasthouse 2021
Halfway between a scrambler and a trail bike, the Ducati Desert Sled is just the thing to take you from the beaches of Long Beach to the edge of the Californian desert. For fun, because Ducati Scramblers love fun. This Fasthouse version opens up its feelings towards competition, as it gleans the deco from the winning bike in the Mint 400.
We salute this special series, as it allows us to remember or discover this race in California's Mojave Desert. Quite simply, the "greatest off-road race in the USA"... of which my apple had no knowledge until this Scrambler Fasthouse was presented.
But don't expect to find a machine ready to tackle the 400 miles (644 km) around Las Vegas. The Scrambler Desert Sled features a red-painted frame, black rims and black trim throughout. The fuel tank is split between the dominant color and gray stripes.
The bike's pedigree piece is located on one of the frame's steel tubes. An authentication plate identifying its serial number among the 800 models to be produced.
So, there will be precisely 800 Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled Fasthouses, or almost the same engine displacement. The 803 cm3 twin, born in years gone by, retains the same power and torque values - 73 hp and 6.7 mkg. In fact, the whole bike is technically identical to the standard Desert Sled. Let's briefly introduce it: 200 mm of suspension travel, 209 kilos ready to ride, Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR mixed tires , Cornering ABS, Off-road riding mode, spoked wheels and a desire to mess around.

The American market is likely to be best served. From what we hear, a very limited number of models will be arriving in France.
ah, before I go... The Mint 400 was born in 1968, as a promotional stunt by the manager of one of Las Vegas' old casinos, the Mint. The first edition included around 100 vehicles - the last one brought together 550 teams in over 80 categories.
In the end, let's not only remember the color of this Fasthouse Scrambler, but also the fact that it shows a piece of America.
