presentation of the SuperSport 950 2021
to say that sport is a Ducati tradition is an understatement. Although the manufacturer's range extends far beyond this intrinsic concept, most models still boast a strong dynamic.
the SuperSport defends this well, with its delicate balance between tradition, sportiness and a flair for exclusivity. It's a sports bike for the road, far from the radicalism of Bologna's Superbikes. When the 939 arrived, we immediately sensed that it was not a reincarnation of the SS (620, 750, 900, 1000and others) but a sporty civilization of the modern era.
Has the 950 SuperSport evolved in personality, or has it just been given a makeover?
visual discovery provides a partial answer: with its luminous eyebrows and deep-set eyes, the machine looks very similar to the Panigale V4. The whole looks much "lighter" than the previous imposing optical block. The air vents are also more aggressive, giving the front end a chic yet slightly mean look. For the front, yes; for the rear, it's the same design as the 939.
the similarities continue when you get on board. Insiders who know the old model will instantly find their bearings. The height of the handlebars, the position of the seat, the location of the footrests - the ergonomic triangle has not changed. As for those new to the SuperSport, they won't be disappointed by a riding position halfway between sport and comfort. A belligerent attitude, but without breaking your back or wrists. To relieve wind pressure, the bubble remains adjustable, in two positions with a 50 mm difference.

normal , the 950 SuperSport shares a certain consanguinity with the roadster. This is hardly noticeable, unless you ignore the engine. The block is the same, with a displacement of 937 cm3. Oh yes, no, it's not a 950 as the name suggests. But this isn't the first time Ducat' has pulled this trick (the 999 was never 999 cm3; ditto for the 959 Panigale, the 797 Monster, etc, etc).
This twin is taken from the previous generation, with a small number of evolutions. Firstly, Euro5 compatibility, thanks to work on the exhaust and engine electronics. Then there's a new automatic purge pump for the clutch (anti-dribble).
Depending on standards or technical specs, the power of the 939 SuperSport was either 113 or 110 hp. If we stick to the latter value, we find that the 950 develops exactly the same watts. 110 hp at 9,000 rpm, with maximum torque of 9.5 mkg at 6,500 rpm. In its bowels are 4 valves per cylinder, 53 mm throttle bodies and a desmodromic system (phew, it's a Ducatiste).
the trellis frame is still there. But it's on the way out. The manufacturer banished it from the latest generations of Monster, Panigale, Multistrada and Streetfighter.
From 939 to 950, the SuperSport retains the same frame. Comprising a steel skeleton supported by the engine, a wise 1,478 mm wheelbase, a 43 mm Marzocchi inverted fork, Sachs shock absorbers, an ever-charming swingarm and Brembo radial brakes with M4.32 monobloc construction. The discs are 320 mm at the front and 245 mm at the rear.
The suspensions are adjustable for preload and rebound, with additional compression for the forks. They will support the bike's 210 kilos, the same weight as before. For a superior road feel, the S version gets the job done with its Öhlins components.
in terms of electronics, the SuperSport is a little richer. With the aforementioned dashboard, an Up&Down shifter now standard, and the addition of an IMU inertial unit. With its measuring axes, it detects every movement of the grinding wheel.... But we're more interested in the results: the addition of the Cornering function for ABS, greater precision for traction control, and anti-wheeling which becomes wheeling control.
Let's take a look at what's new. The Ducati 950 SuperSport is now equipped with :
- 4.3" TFT color display
- 3 riding modes (Sport - Touring - Urban)
- 3 fuel injection maps
- Up&Down shifterDown shifter
- 8-step traction control
- wheeling control
- active cornering ABS with anti-stoppie function and ability to deactivate the rear end
- full LED headlights
- daytime running lights
- optional multimedia system for smartphone control
- for young drivers, an A2 version is available, with a maximum power rating of 35 kW / 47.5 hp.
the same, but better. Too easy a sentence! But it's the perfect way to sum up the SuperSport. Ducati has fine-tuned its sport-GT without taking risks; rather, with a certain sensuality. It is now the best candidate to take over from the VFR.

ducati 950 SuperSport riding modes:

- Touring mode offers the best balance between performance and comfort. The engine delivers full power (110 hp), with progressive Ride-by-Wire response to throttle opening, medium DTC intervention (level 4) and Bosch ABS at level 3 to ensure maximum control and braking stability.
- The "Urban" mode is designed for low-grip surfaces. Power is limited to 75hp, with progressive Ride-by-Wire response when the throttle is opened, even more constant DTC intervention (level 6), while Bosch ABS maintains the setting at level 3.
