A scrambler motorcycle is a roadster modified for off-road use. The 800 Urban Motard is a Ducati Scrambler modified for off-road use. Have we covered everything? Is it a return to its roots? No, it isn't. With this new version, the Italian brand has reinvented the supermotard by remixing it in Scrambler style.

It 's not a Desert Sled, the high-legged brother who opens the way to more or less wild spaces. The Urban Motard presents itself as a downtown agitator. A dynamic trail bike, as the wheels testify. While virtually all models in this family are fitted with mixed cobblestone tires, this one is fitted with 17-inch Pirelli Diablo Rosso IIIs. These are sport-road rubber compounds designed for nervous roadsters and other vitamin-packed bikes.

From the two exhaust pipes, you can enjoy the rhythmic breathing of the 803 cm3. For serious fun, stunt riding and muscular cross-country action, the 950 HM is more appropriate. This Scrambler aims for less wild, almost democratic fun. Its 73 horsepower will allow just the right amount of fun, without tipping over into depravity. To calm things down, the big 330 mm front disc is gripped by a 4-piston radial caliper. At the rear, the 245 mm disc has just one piston.

The same minimalist frame, swingarm and suspension are used as on the other Scramblers. It's on this last point that the difference is most marked since the Desert Sled. The latter has far more travel (200 mm vs. 150 mm), more adjustability, and a thicker fork (46 mm vs. 41 mm).
The agility of this version should improve thanks to a wheelbase reduced to 1436 mm, the shortest in the range and identical to the former Café Racer. Caster is also the lowest, dropping from 112 mm to 94 mm.

this more responsive chassis perfectly echoes the Urban Motard's provocative styling. It's almost graffiti-street-urban-art, and smells like you've just left the office. A nice nod to the Hypermotard RVE cousin.
Ducati has added a seat with red stitching and number plates under the seat on both sides - the same as on the Nightshift, in full white.

The indissociable sibling elements are there: interchangeable plates on the 13.5-liter fuel tank, the light signature around the headlamp with the unchanging central X, the small LCD speedometer, the discus blows on the engine's belt covers, the short rear end and limited electronics. The Scrambler gets cornering ABS, LEDs for everything that lights up, an under-seat USB socket and the optional DMS multimedia system.

The 800 Scrambler Urban Motard is much more urban than the Urban Enduro. Almost its son, it's more interested in tricks than meadows. It's aimed at a young audience, and is available in A2 version.
