presentation of the 1100 Panigale V4 2022

We all felt the earthquake when the first Panigale V4 arrived. Sublime lines, a big, sick V4, cutting-edge technical solutions and the dawn of a new generation of hypersports. Ducati used to offer machines on the edge of SBK. With this one, the boundary had shifted between SBK and MotoGP.

In keeping with Bologna tradition, the Panigale V4 evolved after two years, and should have made way for a new bike in 2022.
Not so! For the first time in the Ducati Superbike era, a model has been renewed for the third time(unless you endorse the 916-996-998 saga). But with a host of substantial improvements.

But before we discover what the Panigale V4 phase 3 has under the fairing, let's see how it has evolved. Not much, but enough to make you think "oh, she's changed". First, on the hoof, with new air evacuation vents; then on the winglets. More winglets and less bats, they generate as much support as before (16 kg at 200 km/h / 30 kg at 270 km/h / 37 kg at 300 km/h) with a more compact format.

Slightly more conspicuous calligraphy, blacked-out foot controls - We've come full circle with the new look. And it's still as emotional as ever, no matter how you look at it. Heat and aerodynamic efficiency have prevented us from preserving the pure lines of the first generation, but the Panigale V4 is bound to intoxicate the eye of every observer.

Invisible yet important, the riding ergonomics have been revised. With a flatter seat, a grippier surface and a redesigned fuel tank (with the added bonus of a 1-liter gain), the rider can handle braking better and get off the bike with greater ease on big corners.

Moteur V4 Desmosedici Stradale de la Ducati 1100 Panigale V4on a Ducati, and perhaps even more so on the Panigale V4, the engine has a very special place. Overpowering, crossing swords with theAprilia RSV4, demonic, exhilarating, the 4-cylinder Desmosedici Stradale receives a modest but effective update. A new oil pump, improved gas evacuation, adapted engine calibration, and a 1.5 hp gain to reach 215.5 hp at 13,000 rpm. This V4 barks out its power with a certain shamelessness, which only needs to be erased with the Akrapovic line that goes with it. The power output reaches 228 horsepower; the sound atomizes the ears with 105 decibels; and the bank account dries up by almost 8 kilos of euros.

The manufacturer took the opportunity to redesign the gearbox. Inspired by that of the V4 R, certain ratios have been modified to better suit track use. The 1st and 2nd gears have been lengthened, for more efficient operation in tight corners, as has the final gear - its slight 1.8% lengthening and the gain in engine watts promise 5 km/h more top speed.

A few changes have also been made to the chassis, especially on the S version (the best-selling model), with Swedish equipment and forged rims. For the standard Panigale, Ducat has simply repositioned the swingarm pivot 4 mm higher, to reduce wheelies and stabilize the bike on access roads. Although not enhanced by Öhlins, the Panigale's aluminum Front Frame, Showa BPF 43 mm inverted fork, Sachs shock absorber, adjustable suspension, Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tires (120 and 200 mm wide) and braking package are already doing a fine job - the Panigale's renewed confidence in 330 mm discs and Brembo Stylema 4-piston calipers. Admittedly, if you're looking for something better, you've got to start buying racing parts. The rear brake is a 245 mm disc with a 2-piston brake shoe.

Ducati 1100 Panigale V4 2022 One area where Ducati is putting its engineers to work as quickly as possible is electronics. The engine power modes have been reconfigured, with "Full" letting all the power through in second gear, "High" and "Medium" calibrated for each of the 6 gears, and "Low" configured to be as manageable as possible with 150 drunks in the horn.
The 5-inch TFT color instrument panel also features a number of new features, such as the "Track Evo" display theme, designed to better identify the intervention of electronic assistants and adjust them as early as possible. A green LED signals when it's time to shift up a gear, while a red one warns of over-speeding. Shifter management (DQS Evo 2) has been refined.

Then there are all the riding aids of theold Panigale. These include the 6-axis IMU inertial unit, DTC EVO 3 traction control with 8 levels of intervention, 3-level ABS cornering EVO, DWC EVO wheeling control, DSC two-position slip control, 3-level DPL standing start assistant, and EBC EVO engine brake management. At the start, 4 Driving Modes select the best configuration. Race-A", "Race-B", "Sport" and "Street" are composed as follows:

Ducati 1100 Panigale V4- Race A riding mode, in its standard configuration, is designed for experienced riders who want to exploit the bike's full potential on the track. By selecting this mode, the rider can count on the full power of the engine, with instant ride-by-wire response to throttle opening. This mode offers an electronic setting aimed at achieving maximum performance on tracks with constant asphalt and high grip, without reducing safety levels, with ABS acting only on the front wheel to provide maximum braking performance, but with the "Cornering" function still active.
Power Mode on High; DTC level 3; DWC level 2; DSC level 2; ABS level 1; EBC level 2

- With Race B, the rider can count on the full power of the engine, but with less torque in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears than in Race A mode, to make the bike more maneuverable during long track sessions, on circuits whose characteristics favor cornering rather than strong acceleration, or which are characterized by irregular or low-grip surfaces. The electronics are tuned so that even the most inexperienced drivers can adopt an efficient and spectacular driving style.
Power Mode on High; DTC level 3; DWC level 3; DSC level 2; ABS level 1; EBC level 2

- The Sport version gives the rider 215.5 bhp, with direct Ride-by-Wire throttle response. Thanks to the electronic control settings, even less experienced drivers can enjoy efficient, spectacular handling. In Sport mode, for example, the "Slide by Brake" function is activated, allowing the rider to glide safely through the corner
Power Mode on Medium; DTC level 5; DWC level 4; DSC level 4; ABS level 2; EBC level 2

- Street mode is recommended when the Panigale V4 is to be used on the road. Like the Sport riding mode, this RM gives the rider 150 horsepower and a progressive Ride by Wire throttle response. Electronic control parameters ensure grip and stability to maximize safety.
Power Mode on Low; DTC level 6; DWC level 5; DSC level 2; ABS level 3; EBC level 3

The Panigale V4 mach III has a few more watts, a few more electronics, a few more efficiencies, and a little more weight too. But only a few hundred grams more, due to the extra fuel. This new version is also intended to be easier to ride. For very good riders, of course, as this hypersport remains a fascinating machine that requires a great deal of experience to enjoy.
