presentation of the Multistrada V2 S 937 2024
It 's all a matter of compromise; more or less fair. The Ducati Multistrada V2 S was keen to take as many elements as possible from its V4 sibling, but everyone has to stay in their place. Family reunion, fight, headbutt (fork), a little oil on the table and then we talk. The big Multistrada retains the advantage of a 4-cylinder engine, high watts and a narrow customer base, while the mid-sized bike becomes the guardian of the symbolic L-shaped twin.
On the other hand , it no longer wants to resemble it, as has been the case for all the generations that have come and gone, right up to the 1260 c3m. Then came the V4 with its "Granturismo" engine. It changed face (a little) and chassis (a lot) when its number of cylinders doubled.
The 937 cm3, on the other hand, suffers only from almost imperceptible design alterations, which means that Ducati's two trail-GTs now resemble each other only from a distance. A positive point for the V2, which will be less comparable and more distinctive.
There ' s a marked break between displacements. Whereas there is virtually no difference between generations. Thus, only a colored tongue under the seat and a few decals distinguish the new from the old Bolognese mid-size trailers. It's on the engine side that certain operations distinguish the V2 S from the 950 S. The clutch, connecting rods and gearbox have all been trimmed by 2 kg. Performance is identical, with a maximum of 113 hp and 9.8 mkg of torque.
As a bonus, the mid-range MTS is now available in a 35 kW version for A2 license holders.
They' ve also gained 5 kg across the board. Some of this is on the mill, 1.7 kg on the rims, a few hundred grams on the brake disc frets and another squint on the rear-view mirrors.
Ergonomics have also been improved, with a lower seat height and revised, more comfort-oriented saddles. The entire V2 range is evolving along the same lines.... Technical parts for the frame, brakes and cladding are all siblings. Except that the S is intensely inspired by the digital assets of the V4S. The technology transfer is almost vampirism.

Then there's the plethora of Ducati features: adaptive cornering lights, cruise control, Up&Down shifter, keyless entry system, 5-inch TFT color display, backlit switches - all technological extras, not to mention the standard equipment on all V2 models. These include four driving modes, traction control, a 6-axis inertial unit, curve-active ABS, hill-start assist, Brake Light (flashing rear light in the event of heavy braking) and automatic turn signals.
Heated grips are optional - simply outrageous, given the machine's price and positioning. Like so many others, the Bologna-based manufacturer encourages a visit to its additional catalog, where you'll find suitcases, center stands, Termignoni exhaust systems, spoked wheels, crash bars, carbon and aluminum parts, in-house multimedia systems, lowering kits, etc, etc...
The new Multistrada V2 S has improved on certain aspects of the 950 S it succeeds. It allows us to appreciate much of Ducati's touring expertise. With reasonable power and an already seasoned price tag. Whether V2 or V4, the S versions take a very similar approach to premium-class touring. In two clearly defined dimensions: 57 horsepower, 19 kilos and a 4,700-euro difference.
