presentation of the XL 883 L SUPERLOW 2016
at first, they seduced us with chewing gum and Coke. Then they introduced Elvis Presley, Baywatch and the iPhone. The Americans are doing everything to seduce us, and Harley is not to be outdone: the Wisconsin manufacturer continues its offensive on the European market, with models increasingly adapted to our way of riding - witness the XR 1200. This 883 Superlow is designed to appeal to an even wider audience than the traditional Sportster. The latter is designed to introduce the neophyte to Harleys; the Superlow aims to become an even more accessible machine, almost a rider's CB 500.
low seat height (695 mm), a more 'European' front end with a 120 mm front tire front tire and a 29° caster angle, the 883 L intends to make a difference in the field of maneuverability. With its specially designed Michelin Scorcher wheels and chassis geometry, the machine promises to be livelier, more efficient and, above all, more natural to drive than its rivals.
new suspensions make their appearance in 2016. The fork now features a cartridge and 3-way adjustable damping. The rear emulsion amortos can be adjusted for preload. the redesigned saddle should improve everyday riding.
with controls positioned in a more conventional manner, the rider's arms will also be less constrained while riding. Not riding a Harley but a roadster might shock purists a little, but it will broaden the brand's scope: the HD look with the riding posture of an old-world bike makes you think.
2014 added that little extra to the braking system. Called "Foundation", it implies a number of small improvements for everyday use and emergency braking. A larger front disc, from 292 to 300 mm, a caliper with larger pistons, a new all-aluminum master cylinder, and ABS as standard. The rear unit also benefits from a revised caliper and master cylinder.
And let's not forget the new controls, improved electrical system, H-D Smart keyless start, closed-loop exhaust and gear indicator.
the name Superlow is no coincidence. This super-low 883 also has handlebars (and, above all, a padded, single-seater seat) for the not-so-tall and the ladies. Suspension travel is an ultra-short 108 mm at the front and 54 mm at the rear. Ideal for bringing the seat to ground level... but certainly not great for comfort. Such short travel is far from ideal for proper damping work. The kind of discomfort you put aside by vibrating alongside the twin at 45° when it snorts. Its fifty-odd nags aren't designed to tease young Japanese fighters. So let's take this umpteenth version of the 883 at face value: character and looks. And now, more instinctive driving.

Bikers' reviews Leave a review - 5 reviews
After 1 month of stopping (with the transponder on the handlebars) the battery was flat, I recharged the voltage rose to 13 v. I could not start the start button is mute, I tried with pliers and a car battery, nothing
I changed the batteries in both transponders, nothing. On the other hand, my indicators and alarms were lighting up completely anarchically. Several attempts were completely unsuccessful. Now only the KM counter lights up, along with the headlight and horn. I've never been able to make the pin code appear
Of course, with containment, it's impossible to question the Bayonne dealership, which is closed..
Is it a main battery problem, an alarm battery problem (where is it located?) or a problem with the electronic board?
Please give me an opinion if possible. Rating : 4/5 Respond to Chisco
Good height for a little chick.
17-liter fuel tank, that's great!
the suspension is short, which is a shame, and the seat's a bit hard when you eat up the miles. Otherwise, nothing to say. I love it and it suits me fine. Rating : 5/5 Respond to Minouche
It's the true displacement of the sportsters, at 110/130 there's enough power to overtake without getting scared, it doesn't overheat (and yes!) and the gearbox is stepped for this cubage.
That's it, it's all down to details, but these are still "twin poussif\s", and they're a blast to ride! Rating : 5/5 Participate in the conversation
I don't regret my purchase. Rating : 5/5 Respond to valérie
