The Heritage Classic carries with it more than just panniers and a windscreen. In the motorcycling landscape, it's a mix of deliciously retro old Cadillac, Palm Beach cruising and carefree weekend riding. Before turning our attention to the Touring range, it's worth taking a look at the most roadworthy of the Softail models. Especially as it has benefited from a number of improvements since 2016.

softails are hungry for power. And obviously, the 103 ci isn't enough for them anymore. So they're all adopting the High Output version. With a specific camshaft and improved breathing, the Twin Cam is advertised for a few 5% more potato. Not yet enough to give the Heritage wings, but one more stride when it comes to relaunching its 347 kilos (fully loaded).

this 103+ version has been given a subtle, but obvious, makeover. Fewer studs on the passenger seat and leather saddlebags, a raised passenger folding seat at the end of the seat, a new fuel tank badge, etc...
The styling remains old school, in direct relation to the Hydra-Glide of the 50s. Take advantage of the calm or the Aeolus with the removable windscreen, offer whitewall tires on spoked rims to complete the look, and stash some weekend fun in the luggage compartment. Incidentally, the suitcases benefit from a new internal structure to better retain their shape.

2015 was all about braking. The front disc was enlarged from 292 to 300 mm. The caliper and master cylinder were redesigned, with the latter also benefiting from a performance-enhancing design. The high-friction pad material reduces lever effort by almost half. Harley claims 40% less for optimal braking. Cruise control is now standard equipment, in addition to H-D Smart, ABS and all the charm of a classic idea.

This is my second heirloom, the 110th anniversary model, numbered 110 out of 1600. It's an excellent bike, and I love it for both long and short trips. It's very maneuverable and comfortable. My longest ride in one day was 900 km on the way back from the MORZINE rally. The weather was fine and it was really pleasant. It currently has 33,000 km and is serviced at the dealership. Never disappointed, if I had to change without hesitation I'd try to find the same model with the same number of kilometers. With the first one, I drove it 32,000 km before parting with it, which was also nothing but happiness. I chose the black and gold 2017. Too pretty and not too flashy :-) Just kidding, I love this bike to death. The look is important with a Harley, the impression of riding a motorized myth. But above all, it's a blast to ride: powerful yet smooth engine, plush suspension, decent braking, solid, reassuring frame. In short, even in Paris, it's a bit of Route 66 in everyday life. difficult start, kickstand too far away, jiffy stand added, gear selector mounted on the floorboard, leg too short, hip problem in the long term, gear selector extended to the outside rear, what a joy, cheap accessory for the price. apart from this small inconvenience, good bike, small muscle strain problem solved by dealer by chance, didn't really find the problem but checked the whole bike, 4 hours warranty. 19000 km later good choice! 10/03/2017 01:58 Rating : 4/5 Respond to bigdan

23000km no problem.
A delight, easy to move on mountain roads, very maneuverable, I was scraping at every turn
But this year I fitted 2 x 2cm foot spacers and it attacks much better, scraping from time to time, but you tend to go looking for it.
Climbing in stage 1
A good pair even with 2 and a load
3500km in Italy this summer.
300km between fill-ups, so no regrets, I love it.
A very good tourer.

after years of looking at it, approaching it, dreaming about it, I bought it for myself in 2011.
Since then, it's been nothing but happiness. 60000km driven all over Europe and France, and still nothing to complain about.
i would have appreciated the cruise control, now standard, but I don't need it.
For me, it's the Harley - the look, the comfort, the feel of the handlebars.

3000 miles in 12 days, i.e. around 4800 kms as a duo on American roads. From the desert (Death Valley) to the mountains (Mammoth Lakes) 540 kms in one go, unsuitable for traffic jams, the heat released by the pots is unbearable under the thighs. Otherwise, there's no problem carving the road. On mountain roads, you still have to play with the selector, which is quite handy once you get the hang of it. Don't flinch when the KLONK goes by! Very comfortable, but ends up giving you a hard time after 12 days, but it would be the same with any other machine.
