presentation of the 125 CM 1997
Even though it has evolved since its first appearance, the CM 125 no longer offers the same appeal in the face of sharp, inventive competition. But it's still a machine that offers many services, and whose longevity is exceptional: almost 20 years. It's a reliable machine that benefits from Honda quality. The engine is a smooth, sturdy but phlegmatic in-line twin. It may be criticized for its unconvincing but adequate braking, but this is only moderately detrimental, judging by the machine's capabilities. This is a machine that can be tamed without reluctance; it's easy to ride and will keep you happy for economical urban use.

Comfortable, but you can change the rear amortos for those on a Yamaha Virago 125 (just weld a bracket under the center and side stands). Despite the big cubes in the garage, even after 30 years on the road, I still ride this little Honda at least once a week, just for fun. My wife has a '99, mine's '91... Rating : 5/5 Respond to wolfberserk
However, I'm not very comfortable on 90km/h roads. With the wind and my weight, I'm sometimes at 80km/h maximum. Still, it's a 125 and I'm not complaining! Rating : 5/5 Respond to DannyBoy
I also have a Varadero 125 that's too heavy, but I prefer the 40kg lighter CM. Rating : 5/5 Respond to VMKJ
Is there a circuit breaker somewhere?
It talks but won't start... Thanks for your help. Rating : 5/5 Respond to Caro
There's no circuit breaker, but there is a 1/4-turn valve to shut off the fuel supply
Maybe it's closed?
If not, check your battery charge and make sure the anti-parasitic devices are properly connected
Have a good trip. Rating : 5/5 Participate in the conversation
This little bike is a great machine
I've got two of them! one from 1990 which has passed the 160,000 km mark
And one from 1997 ... 47,000 km
starts in all weathers
consumes 3.5 l/100 km
It's comfortable
It's easy to maintain and parts are readily available
80 euros third-party insurance per year
OK, it's not violent, but it's still a 125
I don't want anything else!
That's why I've got two !!!!!

Pushy machine, it's still a 125, for rides or even big rides or going to work, it's the best I've done, 8500 kms in 3 months, just put some petrol in, the beast is puncture-proof, probably the best twin-cylinder from Honda, to buy at 700 euros max at this price, they're very good, I've changed everything on it except the engine and the frame, for the rest you can enjoy yourself, Scrambler, café racer etc. I like the retro side of the bike and mechanically, you can work on it, only one carburetor, minimum maintenance, so buy with your eyes closed.i like the retro feel of the bike, and mechanically, you can work on it, with just one carburetor and a minimum of maintenance
I ride about 20,000 kms a year on lots of machines, and this is the one that hasn't given me any trouble.
Have a nice day and a good purchase

Very good quality assembly by Honda.
20 years later, nothing has changed if well maintained.
Pugnacious engine (normal for a 125 twin); cheesy looks; puncture-proof. Rating : 4/5 Respond to zani

Bought 700 euros for 11000 km and a 1997 model, who can beat that!
Nickel chromes, no rust (I'd been warned, Honda is serious business). Basic mechanics, I was able to do everything myself. On the road, I got used to it, but it's true that it's a bit heavy. Only regret, no lap counter, but I'll get used to it
A real pleasure then! It's true that I don't have another reference, but I don't regret it (for the price, it was either this or a rusty GN over 15 years old). And for the insurance, less than 65 euros / year third party!!! Rating : 5/5 Respond to Franck
A puncture-proof engine, inadequate braking, even considering its lack of power. Otherwise, the bike is ultra-comfortable
As for the absence of a kick, this is easily remedied by pushing it a little if the starter leaves you stranded... Unbeatable value for money, in my humble opinion
I wouldn't sell it again for the world! Rating : 5/5 Respond to bertouille
Weak points: max speed 90 (long freeway from France to Spain and Morocco), a bit heavy, no kick in case of battery problems
Strengths: immortal engine, indestructible frame. Fuel consumption: between 2.7 and 3.3 l/100 km (on long African straights)
I've taken it home and put it back together to keep riding it. I'd love to test it with the 250 engine. Rating : 5/5 Respond to Elapsio
To increase the power a bit, we'll just have to change the exhaust pipe (because the original is too compressed)
Bonne route et prudence à ts Rating : 5/5 Respond to belechou
A 1989 CM that clocked up 41230 KMS when I paid 500 Euros for it in June 2006, and which is now approaching 49500 KMS
Since then, the battery, rear tire, chain kit, fork plungers and bearings, and most recently the clutch cable, have all been changed as I went along
changed as and when necessary, depending on breakdowns and overhauls, what can I say about this bike?
As I read the reviews, I came across its shortcomings, namely: insufficient top speed, but above all an enormous lack of torque that forces you to shift into fourth gear to keep up with 80 km/h on the slightest hill, a not-so-reasonable fuel consumption of between 4 and 4.5 liters per 100, the plastic headlamp fairing that breaks at the slightest impact (over 70 Euros ttc at Honda), which means that these motorcycles are often seen with the headlamp wrapped in adhesive tape, engine misfires when the handle is turned to idle, and noises and vibrations
from all sides
On the other hand, it's easy to ride, very forgiving, the seat is comfortable, but beware of the brakes, which are too tight
I've just done a tour of Nantes with it, going by freeway, limit, limit, and returning by national and departmental roads. No worries
I'm planning to keep it as long as possible, and if possible find myself a pre-CMT model, and why not set up a CM 125 club to organize rides. Rating : 5/5 Respond to PF61
The only drawback is a lot of vibration, which is very annoying for long distances. Rating : 5/5 Respond to gadmar
The only drawback I've had is a problem with the color (it was peeling and I had to have it repainted) Rating : 5/5 Respond to Renaud
I have an uncle who, at 74, bought this bike (well, the twin, I think that's what it was called at the time, but same engine) as soon as it came out, well, I don't know when, but it's at least 25 years old, and he's still riding it. To tell you that it's indestructible, my hat's off to you! Rating : 5/5 Respond to TITI34
for my age of 55, it suits me very well, and I won't be going through the big cylinders any more because of the speed.and it doesn't eat a drop of oil.oil change every 6000kms Rating : 5/5 Respond to BERNARD
i too fell in love with this little honda cm 125 bought 2 months ago she had 9200 kilometers and for a fair price
it's true it runs at 100 max but very comfortable it's my first bike I don't regret it and I'm very happy to have found this model I even want to buy it but not at the price I'm given Rating : 5/5 Respond to albert
limited speed, 100km/h max and weak braking, but a big mob with no problems. Rating : 5/5 Respond to bigmzn
But where can I find a double carburetor to replace the original one? Rating : 5/5 Respond to lilik
Well, it's true that we'd love to have a late-model 125 and all that. But for a small budget, this really is the 125 to have! We don't often talk about speed with this kind of motorcycle (110 max), but the seat is very comfortable, as is the riding position... No, it's very pleasant
I really recommend it! If you're just starting out and want to get to grips with motorcycling in the rain ;-)
