presentation of the NT 650 V DEAUVILLE 1999
The NTV 650 has been a favorite of many a courier. A utility par excellence, it served as the basis for the creation of this Deauville. It also features the cardan shaft and 647 cm3 twin-cylinder engine. A discreet, but sufficiently torquey and virtually indestructible engine. The motorcycle is attractive, with the look of a long-distance traveler and a finely crafted fairing. Yet protection is limited. A high bubble is recommended, and foot deflectors are mandatory. The saddlebags are well integrated into the bodywork, if not really practical. Let's finish off with a few vibrations and a finish that's just a little too good for a GT. In this segment, the Deauville is the most accessible of the roadsters. For the price of a large roadster, this queen of versatility can just as easily deliver parcels in Paris as go on vacation on the Atlantic coast. The suspension offers remarkable comfort. The bike is easy to ride and pleasantly agile. Braking is effective in all situations. All in all, this is a motorcycle that holds its own on the road, doesn't shy away from it, and is accessible to all.

Not to be underestimated: the cardan shaft is so comfortable to use! And there's plenty of room under the seat for even more storage! :D
A small but easily repairable drawback: the fuel pump screws up over time. Two solutions: you can shunt it (extraction), but the fuel will flow by gravity and you'll have to refill the tank when you're halfway up. Solution 2: a FACET (American) fuel pump, with two brass studs, to be purchased on the Net (all in all, approx. €80 per set), compared with €500 for the original pump, which isn't exactly high-performance...
Idem, if the side cases close with difficulty or not at all, a simple solution: tighten the fixing lugs, they move with time, nothing serious, just routine maintenance ;)
In fine, it goes everywhere, even in fields, it's high on legs but allows even small people to sit on it smoothly. And it's a Honda, so it's safe! Rating : 5/5 Respond to Jerry

On the other hand, from my home to Toulon (Corsica ferries), i.e. 1100km, on the Deauv, it's quite doable in 12h00, and that without backache or neck pain... and the suitcases, what happiness (no saddlebag that moves on the freeway)
No, really, if you want to go far and choose the practical side of things, this Honda is perfect

I hadn't ridden a motorcycle for 20 years... hey yes... children, house... in short, I waited patiently...
I don't regret this second-hand purchase (2000 euros)
This bike gives me some forgotten sensations, which are coming back.
Yes, this bike lacks character and power, but it's a pleasure to ride it as a duo.
It's perfectly at home in town, on the main road and on the freeway.
The Deauville remains a good, safe tourer. It's easy to handle and has excellent braking.
It's also great for getting back into the swing of things, after a few years away from motorcycling.

Plus, I'd wear her style.
On the minus side, there's no ?????? fuel gauge, just a clock, vibrations in the handlebars and a center of gravity that's too high. Let's not talk about the tandem if you're a few centimetres taller than the average person.
So, it's a good bike from a mechanical point of view, and eats up a lot of miles, but it's far from a GT as some people say. Not to be confused.

Good all-round tourer, excellent for work-home use and short weekend rides.
I appreciate not having to deal with the weight and size of the big Pan European-style GTs. Unlike the Pan European, you can park it anywhere without having to think about the start (slope, incline, etc.).
Correct performance for a 650. 135/140 on the odometer is no problem on the freeway; at that speed, you don't get the impression that the engine is forcing you. ( for me, it's enough, I don't ask for more ), it's pleasant to ride at a leisurely pace on small roads,...a good compromise .
A very good point for the simple CBS braking system, which provides maximum reassurance when braking in all weathers.
Fitted with a high bubble (Ermax, Givi or other ...), and a TCP lower fairing, the protection is very good, but not as good as that of the big GTs, but it's appreciated on the freeway
However, Honda could have fitted larger or removable panniers, as on the Pan European models.
Given its reliability and economical maintenance, it's a good choice for riders on a budget who need their bike on a daily basis.
@ and V to all bikers .

Apart from some vibrations, a little more when I put the top case on, I'm really glad I opted for this bike, I just need to get used to the weight of the machine...
I'm even thinking of going for the Deauville 700 once I've had a good rinse of it! Rating : 4/5 Respond to Gero
i find this bike excellent for its value for money and legendary reliability. Rating : 4/5 Respond to tabornio
I use a 2003 vintage for my daily commute, and the occasional weekend ride.
What can I say, it's an economical motorcycle (very reasonable and contained maintenance budget), sober (4.8l/100 to 5.2l on average), I usually do 320km before switching to reserve, quite comfortable (everything is relative), practical to a certain extent with suitcases and reliable.
It's the kind of bike, placid and willing, half utility, half GT, a bit like the CX500s of the 80s. You can ride it with peace of mind, and it's more than enough to get you to work.
You need to drive it the old-fashioned way to compensate for its lack of power (which isn't really a lack of power), so don't hesitate to play with the gearbox for normal acceleration, especially when overtaking, where you just need to downshift into 4th gear and accelerate to get a decent overtake.
Good braking, decent roadholding (avoid jostling it on small roads with rough surfaces, it's not a trail car either), you can tackle the road or the city with ease, especially as its weight is much easier to manage than that of the big GTs.
However, taller riders will find their knees a little too bent (perhaps), which can be annoying in the long run when touring.
The handlebars need to be raised (25mm is enough), for a more upright and comfortable position. Finally, a higher windscreen is mandatory, to be sufficiently protected (I guess the Japanese think there's no wind on our roads)...
In short,
A motorcycle with sufficient performance, for all those who ride reasonably, with no particular style, not really GT, not really utilitarian, it will displease the right-hand-grip enthusiasts, who only think about time and cornering, but it will please backpackers who like long, quiet rides.
To each his own style...
Used versions are available everywhere, and at these prices, it's a bargain for those who want to ride with peace of mind.

I'm looking for the electrical plan of a Honda Deauville 650 motorcycle year 2003
The problem comes from the main power supply 30A or relay switch because even without turning on the contact the fuse blows
However, I disconnected the regulator, removed all the protection fuses from the other controls and the failure was identical
Could the cause be the 30A relay switch directly?
How can I test it?
Thank you all and I hope to see you soon

I have no complaints about this 650 cc. Maybe not a thunderbolt, but a comfortable, efficient machine. Inexpensive maintenance, a success for the HONDA brand. Perfect handling in town and on the road.
I have no regrets about this purchase, and intend to sell it for the new 700 cc model Rating : 5/5 Respond to NAPOLEON
In duet mode, power is rather limited, but the torque makes for a smooth ride. Compared with more modern motorcycles, the 5-speed gearbox is too long, which makes it less responsive in the mountains. Its vocation is that of a tourer, not a sports bike.
Ideal for everyday use if you're allergic to scooters! Rating : 4/5 Respond to Clément
and believe me, it's a real pleasure, far from being a monster ....
but for cool driving at the speed limit, no better
everyday driving is so pleasant
strong points
very comfortable
maintenance can be carried out without anyone else (dealer)
cardan shaft
ridiculous fuel consumption
the minus
vibrations at certain engine speeds
weight (although it is no longer a nuisance on the road)
mechanical access (requires some disassembly ....)
after that, don't expect too much from it ..... but for the most part, it's a serious performer on a daily basis
Rating : 5/5 Respond to léo
Great machine, easy to maintain and economical Rating : 5/5 Respond to Pat18
compared to pre-2002 models, vibrations are almost non-existent (the engine has been overhauled on nearly 80 parts), it's obvious (I tried a 2001 model, it's like night and day)
comfort is excellent, and although the engine only delivers 57 HP, it's still pretty responsive from 0 to 120 km/h, after which it's more linear, but in total keeping with the machine's vocation (it's made for cruising)
on the freeway, it's pleasant to cruise at 130-140-150 km/h (with a high honda bubble, the helmet visor can remain open)
the hand and foot deflectors are nice too
the seat is still a little high, so beware if you're under 1.70 m tall, unless you use a comfort saddle
still technically up to scratch (let's not forget the CBS coupled braking and the cardan shaft).
very imposing, it draws the eye, flattens the ego, and it's nice to see people turn around and ask a few questions
it's not a show-off, it's a well-built motorcycle
it rides like a bike, and really, I'd only change for the new deauville 680 (in a few years)
moto passion, moto raison ..

I drive a 2002 deauville every day, bought used in September 2004, with 16,000 km from a professional. It now has 25,000 km on the clock
However, my great enthusiasm has always come up against the following 2 observations
- in second gear only, the engine (and/or gearbox?) produces a decidedly peculiar noise, hoarse and squeaky, very much in the style of the De Dion Bouton bridge (truck series!!) in its early days.
- the transition from first to second gear calls for precautions to avoid cracking and other manifestations of disharmony on the part of the beautiful mechanics
Of course, my mechanic finds it perfect with each overhaul!
So I'm very puzzled and sometimes wonder if I shouldn't start piccoling again after more than 12 years of total abstinence!
Anyway, have other owners observed these phenomena?
Thank you in advance and have a nice trip
Rating : 5/5 Respond to alfatango
no problem ,option deflectors for hands and feet and high bubble and you can ride every day with (tip ,with the high bubble ,lower the fork crown by 10mm
to put more weight on the front and everything's fine, even at full throttle. I'd like your opinion on the new deauville 700
thank you
Rating : 5/5 Respond to nemo
It's an easy, super-comfortable bike (high bubble that provides a smooth ride above 160 km/h on the freeway, top-case with backrest)
It lacks a little power, but you don't buy it for its performance, but it's not ridiculous when you rev it up. Braking (not yet CBS) is OK, but not much more, and I found the tires wore out quickly (10500 km on the cord). Deflectors are compulsory in the rain and in very cold weather. Rating : 5/5 Respond to DEAUVILLE
i switched to the Pan 1300 6 weeks ago and 4000 Km of happiness, but I haven't forgotten the pleasure my Deauville gave me for those 6 years Rating : 5/5 Respond to minfi
BN If you don't want to get into trouble with your insurance company, take the "accessories" option for the wide saddlebags, because even though they're fitted as standard on a new bike, some "experts" consider them to be accessories rather than options
