presentation of the NT 650 V DEAUVILLE 1999

The NTV 650 has been a favorite of many a courier. A utility par excellence, it served as the basis for the creation of this Deauville. It also features the cardan shaft and 647 cm3 twin-cylinder engine. A discreet, but sufficiently torquey and virtually indestructible engine. The motorcycle is attractive, with the look of a long-distance traveler and a finely crafted fairing. Yet protection is limited. A high bubble is recommended, and foot deflectors are mandatory. The saddlebags are well integrated into the bodywork, if not really practical. Let's finish off with a few vibrations and a finish that's just a little too good for a GT. In this segment, the Deauville is the most accessible of the roadsters. For the price of a large roadster, this queen of versatility can just as easily deliver parcels in Paris as go on vacation on the Atlantic coast. The suspension offers remarkable comfort. The bike is easy to ride and pleasantly agile. Braking is effective in all situations. All in all, this is a motorcycle that holds its own on the road, doesn't shy away from it, and is accessible to all.

Hello, which version can be bridged in A2? Thank you. Rating : 3/5
The 650 and 700 Deauville can be bridled, but with the old regulations, i.e. 34 hp. Rating : 4/5

Are the 700 also brimbale? I thought it was impossible. Rating : 4/5
As Greg said, older models can't be bridged to A2, the regulations didn't yet exist, but some models could be bridged to 34hp, which corresponded to an A1 license. Rating : 5/5
French Patoche Model 2002
Pleasant and easy to drive.versatile and with a top case it's practical without being ugly.too heavy and a bit high for smaller people. Rating : 3/5
French Jerry Model 1998
Available to new A2 drivers in a limited version, this is a versatile, economical (approx. 6l/100km) and powerful little all-rounder! Bridged, it can reach 160-170km/h (vs. approx. 185 in full), which is more than enough for freeway cruising and overtaking. The integrated panniers can't be removed (and so much the better) and don't allow you - as standard - to stow a large helmet, but they're very useful for everyday use and can be locked with a key at the rear of the fairing :)

Not to be underestimated: the cardan shaft is so comfortable to use! And there's plenty of room under the seat for even more storage! :D

A small but easily repairable drawback: the fuel pump screws up over time. Two solutions: you can shunt it (extraction), but the fuel will flow by gravity and you'll have to refill the tank when you're halfway up. Solution 2: a FACET (American) fuel pump, with two brass studs, to be purchased on the Net (all in all, approx. €80 per set), compared with €500 for the original pump, which isn't exactly high-performance...

Idem, if the side cases close with difficulty or not at all, a simple solution: tighten the fixing lugs, they move with time, nothing serious, just routine maintenance ;)

In fine, it goes everywhere, even in fields, it's high on legs but allows even small people to sit on it smoothly. And it's a Honda, so it's safe!

It's 2019, and I've been riding Deauville 1998 since this year. I left for Corsica and drove down the west coast of France with my granny, and she's definitely cut out for long roadtrips! Solid, reliable, comfortable, inexpensive, practical, hyper-intuitive in its driving and reactions
On the other hand, from my home to Toulon (Corsica ferries), i.e. 1100km, on the Deauv, it's quite doable in 12h00, and that without backache or neck pain... and the suitcases, what happiness (no saddlebag that moves on the freeway)
No, really, if you want to go far and choose the practical side of things, this Honda is perfect
Two or three years on a 650, then I'll switch to a 700!

Hello Syl, the regulator is out of order. It is imperative that you stop driving or repair it immediately. Otherwise, the battery, bulbs, etc., will suffer. This is a recurrent fault on Honda models. Rating : 4/5
French White Runner Model 2003
A good all-round bike, economical (maintenance and fuel consumption). Easy to maintain for those who have already done a bit of "old-school" motorcycle mechanics ...( classic Keihin CVK carburetors with depression,...classic and well-known from Honda ... valve clearances with screws and locknuts, traditional forks ... in short, simple and easy to maintain ... And, of course, the good old fuel pump with its crappy contactors, which fail ...sooner or later ... Apart from that, the bike holds its own, brakes pretty well, isn't really "powerful" in absolute terms, but it's not ridiculous either...130/140 km on the freeway without a problem. Important: when you're in a duo, don't forget to downshift into 4th gear to overtake, and then open up the throttle ... and the bike will overtake you without giving you a fright. In short, overtaking "the old-fashioned way" is recommended for safety reasons!Don't forget, either, that the rear shock absorber can only take a load of 200 kg... (i.e. rider, passenger and a few belongings...)... And a shock absorber that suddenly collapses due to an excess load... looks "funny" !!!! Real-life experience!!! ... Rating : 3/5

I've owned a Deauville ntv 650 for a year now.
I hadn't ridden a motorcycle for 20 years... hey yes... children, house... in short, I waited patiently...
I don't regret this second-hand purchase (2000 euros)
This bike gives me some forgotten sensations, which are coming back.
Yes, this bike lacks character and power, but it's a pleasure to ride it as a duo.
It's perfectly at home in town, on the main road and on the freeway.
The Deauville remains a good, safe tourer. It's easy to handle and has excellent braking.
It's also great for getting back into the swing of things, after a few years away from motorcycling.

French mickey Model 2002
It's a beautiful bike, easy to ride. Provided you like the 2-cylinder engine, which gives it real responsiveness. It's not a GT. It's capable of swallowing kilometers without flinching, but without the comfort of a big one, if you like those. I'm more of a heavyweight motorcyclist, and I've got this bike for my wife, which suits her well.
Plus, I'd wear her style.
On the minus side, there's no ?????? fuel gauge, just a clock, vibrations in the handlebars and a center of gravity that's too high. Let's not talk about the tandem if you're a few centimetres taller than the average person.
So, it's a good bike from a mechanical point of view, and eats up a lot of miles, but it's far from a GT as some people say. Not to be confused.

I'm very satisfied with this bike, which meets my quality criteria in terms of engine sturdiness and general construction, although the fairing's ABS becomes brittle over time (it has to be replasticized and re-welded), but apart from that, it's a successful bike, very pleasant to ride. I've made a number of modifications: built a rear mudguard, a front mud flap, made a steering brake (effective at higher speeds), lowered the fairing, shortened the handlebars, fitted a vacuum horn, the large suitcase kit, in short, it's now to my liking. I had to change the fuel pump contacts, and adjust the spring settings on the vacuum system for the carburetor bushels. Rating : 4/5

French pacotheas Model 2005
To go to work or on vacation in the south of Spain, this puncture-proof tourer runs at 4.5l/100km at 110km/h cruising speed! An ideal chassis, very good braking with the shoe and a high bubble, it'll carry you for 200,000km if you drain it every 5,000km like I do. Some people think it's ugly, so much the better, no one's going to mow it down. It's the anti-frills bike par excellence, the bike for those who ride. Rating : 5/5
French whiterunner Model 2003
Good bike that does the job.

Good all-round tourer, excellent for work-home use and short weekend rides.
I appreciate not having to deal with the weight and size of the big Pan European-style GTs. Unlike the Pan European, you can park it anywhere without having to think about the start (slope, incline, etc.).
Correct performance for a 650. 135/140 on the odometer is no problem on the freeway; at that speed, you don't get the impression that the engine is forcing you. ( for me, it's enough, I don't ask for more ), it's pleasant to ride at a leisurely pace on small roads,...a good compromise .

A very good point for the simple CBS braking system, which provides maximum reassurance when braking in all weathers.
Fitted with a high bubble (Ermax, Givi or other ...), and a TCP lower fairing, the protection is very good, but not as good as that of the big GTs, but it's appreciated on the freeway

However, Honda could have fitted larger or removable panniers, as on the Pan European models.

Given its reliability and economical maintenance, it's a good choice for riders on a budget who need their bike on a daily basis.

@ and V to all bikers .

French rene Model 2001
An engine and a drive shaft that are well present, in a comfortable chassis, to sum up... Now for a nuance: easy, supple engine for a two-cylinder, that can be pushed around a little to get the most out of it, present through vibrations and modest power (a little) \"mangled" by its cardan shaft and by a gearbox that's not very well stepped (the one that's too long in particular, on which you downshift...) and refractory (neutral...). Otherwise, the bike as a whole is pleasant most of the time, thanks to a good, agile and stable chassis (except in big cases), with good suspension, a good riding position and considerable protection. I can only recommend it as a bike for work and sleep, but not for regular long-distance journeys, as it vibrates, even if this is a little less the case at legal freeway speeds (140mph). Good reach at 180-190km/h odometer. Rating : 4/5

Etonnante Deauville
French rene Model 1998
Well, I've had a hankering for Deauville ever since it came out in '98, and I admired it at the Bordeaux boat show that year. 17 years later, I found a second-hand model, nearly 15 years old, in a pretty, classy blue with very little mileage. You don't get carried away when you first try it, but you know right away that you'll want to get back on it. A little heavy at standstill or at very low speeds (be careful not to lean the bike in this situation), it's on the whole easy on paper for its weight, as is often the case with hyper-balanced Hondas. Still a unique concept today for a practical, medium-displacement road bike, the Deauville gets more and more appreciated as the miles go by, although I'm taking care to free up the engine as it's a little sluggish from the outset. I'm currently working on this, exploring the rev counter more than the previous owner. I'm also hoping to reduce the vibrations, which are a little too present on the freeway. I'll have more to say in a while, once I've done the groundwork... Rating : 4/5

I've just bought one from '98, to replace a crashed Versys, I was a bit apprehensive about the few less horses, and the fact of being lower, but this bike is a little marvel! Despite the 10 hp less than my Kawa, you still have to watch out for radars!
Apart from some vibrations, a little more when I put the top case on, I'm really glad I opted for this bike, I just need to get used to the weight of the machine...
I'm even thinking of going for the Deauville 700 once I've had a good rinse of it!

Hello .

I use a 2003 vintage for my daily commute, and the occasional weekend ride.

What can I say, it's an economical motorcycle (very reasonable and contained maintenance budget), sober (4.8l/100 to 5.2l on average), I usually do 320km before switching to reserve, quite comfortable (everything is relative), practical to a certain extent with suitcases and reliable.
It's the kind of bike, placid and willing, half utility, half GT, a bit like the CX500s of the 80s. You can ride it with peace of mind, and it's more than enough to get you to work.
You need to drive it the old-fashioned way to compensate for its lack of power (which isn't really a lack of power), so don't hesitate to play with the gearbox for normal acceleration, especially when overtaking, where you just need to downshift into 4th gear and accelerate to get a decent overtake.
Good braking, decent roadholding (avoid jostling it on small roads with rough surfaces, it's not a trail car either), you can tackle the road or the city with ease, especially as its weight is much easier to manage than that of the big GTs.
However, taller riders will find their knees a little too bent (perhaps), which can be annoying in the long run when touring.
The handlebars need to be raised (25mm is enough), for a more upright and comfortable position. Finally, a higher windscreen is mandatory, to be sufficiently protected (I guess the Japanese think there's no wind on our roads)...

In short,
A motorcycle with sufficient performance, for all those who ride reasonably, with no particular style, not really GT, not really utilitarian, it will displease the right-hand-grip enthusiasts, who only think about time and cornering, but it will please backpackers who like long, quiet rides.

To each his own style...

Used versions are available everywhere, and at these prices, it's a bargain for those who want to ride with peace of mind.

In this day and age, as I no longer enjoy riding anything with 2 or 4 wheels for fear of speed cameras and all the other excuses for sucking up money, I think the Deauville is the perfect bike for riding without breaking the bank.Mine is 12 years old and I can't find an equivalent. Good evening to all,

I'm looking for the electrical plan of a Honda Deauville 650 motorcycle year 2003
The problem comes from the main power supply 30A or relay switch because even without turning on the contact the fuse blows
However, I disconnected the regulator, removed all the protection fuses from the other controls and the failure was identical
Could the cause be the 30A relay switch directly?
How can I test it?

Thank you all and I hope to see you soon

A well-balanced, easy-going motorcycle. The integrated side panniers, agility, relatively light weight, torque, efficient brakes and relaxed riding position make it a welcome everyday companion.

In duet mode, power is rather limited, but the torque makes for a smooth ride. Compared with more modern motorcycles, the 5-speed gearbox is too long, which makes it less responsive in the mountains. Its vocation is that of a tourer, not a sports bike.

Ideal for everyday use if you're allergic to scooters!

for some time now I've had a deauville in my garage to complement a sportier machine
and believe me, it's a real pleasure, far from being a monster ....
but for cool driving at the speed limit, no better
everyday driving is so pleasant
strong points
very comfortable
maintenance can be carried out without anyone else (dealer)
cardan shaft
ridiculous fuel consumption
the minus
vibrations at certain engine speeds
weight (although it is no longer a nuisance on the road)
mechanical access (requires some disassembly ....)
after that, don't expect too much from it ..... but for the most part, it's a serious performer on a daily basis

i'm still amazed by my deauville, which is from 2003 and has 21,000 km on the odometer
compared to pre-2002 models, vibrations are almost non-existent (the engine has been overhauled on nearly 80 parts), it's obvious (I tried a 2001 model, it's like night and day)
comfort is excellent, and although the engine only delivers 57 HP, it's still pretty responsive from 0 to 120 km/h, after which it's more linear, but in total keeping with the machine's vocation (it's made for cruising)
on the freeway, it's pleasant to cruise at 130-140-150 km/h (with a high honda bubble, the helmet visor can remain open)
the hand and foot deflectors are nice too
the seat is still a little high, so beware if you're under 1.70 m tall, unless you use a comfort saddle
still technically up to scratch (let's not forget the CBS coupled braking and the cardan shaft).
very imposing, it draws the eye, flattens the ego, and it's nice to see people turn around and ask a few questions
it's not a show-off, it's a well-built motorcycle
it rides like a bike, and really, I'd only change for the new deauville 680 (in a few years)

Craquements et bruits de boite
French alfatango Model 2004
Hello,

I drive a 2002 deauville every day, bought used in September 2004, with 16,000 km from a professional. It now has 25,000 km on the clock
However, my great enthusiasm has always come up against the following 2 observations
- in second gear only, the engine (and/or gearbox?) produces a decidedly peculiar noise, hoarse and squeaky, very much in the style of the De Dion Bouton bridge (truck series!!) in its early days.
- the transition from first to second gear calls for precautions to avoid cracking and other manifestations of disharmony on the part of the beautiful mechanics

Of course, my mechanic finds it perfect with each overhaul!

So I'm very puzzled and sometimes wonder if I shouldn't start piccoling again after more than 12 years of total abstinence!

Anyway, have other owners observed these phenomena?

Thank you in advance and have a nice trip

At 48 years of age and 20 years off the road, I bought it at 4 1/2 years old and 2900 Km in January 2005. I've already covered 12,000 Km with it in all weathers and on all roads
It's an easy, super-comfortable bike (high bubble that provides a smooth ride above 160 km/h on the freeway, top-case with backrest)
It lacks a little power, but you don't buy it for its performance, but it's not ridiculous when you rev it up. Braking (not yet CBS) is OK, but not much more, and I found the tires wore out quickly (10500 km on the cord). Deflectors are compulsory in the rain and in very cold weather.

not only is it an excellent little GT, it's also very safe. Unfortunately, I had to lie down with mine (to avoid a driver refusing me the right of way) and thanks to the "living space" delimited by the fins and my wide panniers, I didn't get my leg crushed by its 250 kilos!
BN If you don't want to get into trouble with your insurance company, take the "accessories" option for the wide saddlebags, because even though they're fitted as standard on a new bike, some "experts" consider them to be accessories rather than options

Having acquired the DEAUVILLE NTV 650 in April 2003, 17,000 km covered since then, I'm fully satisfied with my motorcycle, having of course added a few essential accessories: high bubble and high-comfort seat lowered by 2 cm (I'm 1m67); as comfortable on small roads as on freeways (with high bubble) I've already been to Perpignan twice (I live in Orléans), what happiness! Of course, the engine is a little wheezy (especially when riding a duo), but it's perfectly suited to my rather "cool" riding style. No more tedious chain maintenance thanks to the cardan shaft (it's the only bike in its category with one); I don't regret my purchase! The combined braking system is great; the front brake handle is a bit harder, but in town, I only brake with the pedal, and frankly, it brakes well! Maybe one day I'll be able to put it on a center stand (no, it's not optional...)... I think my next purchase will be the toe guards (it's true that you can get your boots soaked pretty quickly...). French fabienne Model 2004
I started riding at the age of 48 with a Yam 500 XV. I bought a deauville in 2004. What a pleasure...over 5000 km. It's true that I ride in peace. In 2005, I'm planning a trip to Provence... Rating : 5/5

for cléo... I think 1.60 is just right for a Deauv... anyway, the best thing to do is to find out for yourself. Rating : 5/5

French cléo Model 2004
And for a girl barely 1m60 what do you think? Rating : 5/5
good machine but one big criticism with the high bubble (honda) the bike louvers from 130 or 140 kmh and the big scare Rating : 5/5
French Deauviller Model 2004
For R² Totally agree with you... foot guards (optional)... essential, with the Honda high bubble (also optional) and hand guards (still optional) we are top comfort... and we have the "poor man's" RT... for every day with an average fuel consumption of 5l/100. Rating : 5/5
French Alexandre Model 2004
I acquired the first version in 1999. Withstands age well, except for the exhaust manifold, which immediately takes on the colors of autumn. The engine is a little weak for a duo with a passenger weighing over 60 kg. It follows me wherever I go, as long as there's no snow. Rating : 5/5
French Fr92 Model 2004
Good machine, but with a light finish and almost unusable cases. I hope it will age well. Rating : 5/5
I totally agree with Mr or Mrs Deauvillerider, the only small problem is protecting your feet when it rains (bring waterproof boots). 6000 Km since May 2004 and I love it! Rating : 5/5
French Deauviller Model 2004
Excellent machine for mixed and economical use. Doesn't mind taking turns if necessary... Would recommend for a first bike or for leisurely use. Mef to the weight when maneuvering... Very sound handling and faultless steering and cornering. Very safe braking. In short: nothing but good... if you're not looking for pure performance! Rating : 5/5
