presentation of the CBR 300 R 2014

At first, you introduce yourself, you're polite, you move forward almost timidly to blend in... and then, when things start to move, you want to be in it with more assertive conviction. The CBR 300 is like that too. There's no question of perpetuating the small 1200 VFR silhouette of the CBR 250. And then, muscle! It wants to respond with more gniak when the rider wants to play with his right hand. So Honda got down to work, and this little sportbike is a step up from its 1/4-liter predecessor.

no more VFR look! A CBR should look like a CBR. In becoming the 300, it also drew heavily on the pencil stroke of the 500, and reminds us very much of the CBR 1000 RR. Side by side, they look like fake binoculars. Gratifying for the youngest, and flattering for the owner: "Is that a 500? Is your CBR a 600?" curious neophyte friends might ask.
Underneath its exterior, the CBR 300 R uses very classic technical solutions. A Diamond-type tubular steel frame, a fork with 37 mm-diameter tubes, Pro-Link rear suspension with monoshock and two brake discs - a 296 mm front disc with 2-piston caliper and a 220 mm rear disc with single-piston caliper. A 2-channel ABS is fitted as standard. All this for 164 kilos fully loaded, a few kilos lighter than the 250 and 30 less than the CBR 500.

a major facelift for the bodywork, but not enough to create a new identity. So, the cylinder walls have been widened, the bore has remained the same, but the stroke has been lengthened. The single-cylinder gains 8 mm, increases its cubic capacity to 286 cm3 and gains a handful of horsepower and torque. The CBR 300 produces just over 30 horsepower and 2.9 mkg, while the 2.5 claimed 26 horses and 0.4 mkg less.
However, the CBR 300 can't compete in terms of sheer power with its direct rival, the Kawasaki 300 Ninja, credited with 39 hp. But the Honda's maximum power is available 2500 rpm earlier. Will the character of the mono be more appealing than the youthful spirit of the Kawa twin? Let's not forget the KTM RC 390, whose impetuous engine could well make the two Nipponese observers. At a different price, too.
The look is incisive; will the CBR be radical? Not really. The bike is closer to a Sport-GT than an authentic pistarde. You only have to look at the height of the half-guidelines to understand that the chest will not lie on the tank. The saddle has been slimmed down to allow the rider's feet to rest more comfortably on the ground.

although sales figures for sports bikes in this category are in the confidential range, Honda is not shying away from upgrading this entry-level sports bike. To strategically occupy the ring against the Kawa 300? Above all, to conquer emerging markets, where the CBR 300 R will be sold for the most part. Back home, it offers a taste of CBR styling at a lower cost of ownership. A gentle sport for a certain clientele.

Très bonne moto
French Model 2014
Not sold in France, it's not a big hit in neighboring countries either. Yet it's an excellent bike, with far superior performance to the CBR 250. It's very light, brakes well and accelerates well in (too) short gears. It picks up well, even in 6th gear.
Top speed is 162 km/h on the odometer, or 145 km/h in real life. Fuel consumption varies between 3 and 4 liters.
On the practical side, it's not ideal for carrying groceries...

Objection !!!!
D\' one you can't compare the old 2-strokes with the new 4-strokes because the standards have changed (pollution, power, weight, etc)... any proof? Of course! Even ktm was forced to restrict their ktm duke 390 because it was too light.

the cbr250 had power and torque that could easily reach speeds outside the law, fuel consumption was more than reasonable 3.8 with bibi, and maintenance was not excessive.

so yes, success depends on educating motorcyclists, many of whom are reluctant to downsize their auto-schools, even if a 600cc is already too much for everyday city use.
Consuming at a high price just to show your neighbor that you've got a big one.

But in your time I still prefer a 4-cylinder 250cc to your stinking stuff :p

sincerely

French Model 2014
If you go back 25 years, that's what a 125 came out with, but with 30 kg less weight.
Well, at least now we're sure we'll be able to turn and stop... the day manufacturers start developing direct-injection 2-strokes, they'll take a big step forward, and the bigger 4-stroke machines will sell less...
It's a disgrace to offer 4-stroke machines of these displacements. Even ktm, which makes good enduro machines, has found a way, they're less anemic, but what's the lifespan of an engine, and how much does it cost when you go back to the garage ???, is that ecology ??, paying more to change more often ?
At least if we had horses when we turned the handle!
That'll sell exhaust pipes that make a lot of noise, like all those guys on 2 or 3-wheel scooters who think they're pilots!
