presentation of the CB 500 X 2017

The Honda CB 500 X, third offspring of the CB 500 family, is not only the little adventurer in the Honda range, but also the most accessible crossover. Its small, twin-cylinder engine isn't very spirited, but it's docile and reassuring for those attacking the medium-displacement segment.
This first evolution gives the design a little more pizzazz. It all comes together in the sharper headlamp topped by a cap, the crenellated duckbill and the more "Ranger" decals. As for improvements, the CB 500 X phase 2 gets a 100 mm higher bubble, LED front and rear lighting, and the appearance of fork preload adjustment. Work on the gear selection system should further smooth gearshifts. Last but not least, the brake lever is now spread-adjustable. 2017 brings Euro4 compatibility and a new exhaust system.

The 500 X is built on the same base as its CBN and CBR siblings. A practical way to multiply models while keeping costs under control. The chassis is very simple: a 35 mm-diameter main beam where the engine acts as a stiffening element, a 41 mm fork, a monoshock with 9 preload adjustment positions, one petal brake disc per wheel and 17-inch rims. No need for anything more, as this machine is not intended for supermot or arsouille riding, but for pleasure and urban riding. With a more upright riding position and longer suspension travel, the CB 500 X is more comfortable than the N and R.

Honda CB 500 X 2017 - 1Honda CB 500 X 2017 - 1

All CB 500 models share the same in-line twin-cylinder engine. With 471 cm3, this block is just right for A2 licensing. It delivers the maximum amount of power authorized for young riders: 35 Kw or 47.5 hp, and 4.4 mkg of torque. Let's not dwell on the manufacturing methods used in the CBR 600 and 1000 RR's 4-cylinder engines, but on two essential points: fuel consumption and rpm. The twin requires even less fuel on a steady cycle, and claims 3.4 liters per 100 km. Combined with the slightly increased fuel tank capacity, now 17.5 L, you're looking at a machine with a range of 516 km on a full tank. In the real world, you'll certainly have a more playful right hand than the algorythms, but the range will still be of a high caliber.

As in 2016, the 2017 CB 500 X is available in several colors, but only 3 will be offered in France: white, red and black. The first member of a crossover-tinged family, the CB 500 X exudes fun and ruggedness, even if it means never putting your wheels between the ruts. Of the three CBs, this one offers the most protection and comfort. It's all about fun, economy and adventure style.

French Alsky Model 2016
Superb bike, we would have appreciated a little more power, but it's a very versatile bike, very comfortable (both rider and passenger). Simple, reassuring and efficient, it's a bike that will take you wherever you want to go Rating : 4/5
Avis sur 6mois
French Bulldoog Model 2018
Coming from the 125cc and after obtaining an A2 license, I've been the happy owner of a 2018 Cb500x for 6 months
Well, even for a beginner like me, I find that it lacks a lot of peach, I have a lot of trouble reaching the 130/140 speedometer, especially if it climbs a little, I'm forced to drop a gear to try to maintain the pace (alone on the bike "+ 100kg", I have to test in duo but it already scares me)
Apart from that, it's a pleasant bike to ride, which quickly gives you confidence. The kilometers go by without tiring.

bonjours je viens d'acheter la mien ( comme toi je sort de la 125 "varadero 2007") je n'est pas de difficulté a atteindre les 130 malgré le vent très fort par chez moi bout du delta du Rhône, aurait elle un problème Rating : 4/5
French totor93 Model 2018
14000kms with this very versatile motorcycle, not greedy in consumption and consumables on a daily basis, comfortable, braking just sufficient, real passenger seat, lacks a little power for a 500cc, current limitation too restrictive, especially when you see the power of machines with larger displacements Rating : 4/5
French HCCI Model 2018
My CB125F has better fuel consumption than my CB500X, but the former has neither the comfort nor the peachiness of the latter. The only annoying fault is the lack of carburetion between the transition from idling to normal running, but it's possible to cover more than 45 km on 1litre of fuel. To say that the CB500X is small and light is an exaggeration. My CB125F is much smaller and lighter, while the other one looks like a monster. Rating : 4/5
Excellent compromis qualite/prix/polyval
French Model 2017
Ideal for those looking for a multi-purpose motorcycle for city and highway riding, very economical in terms of maintenance/insurance/consumption.
On the other hand, the lack of a speedometer is incomprehensible (even the cb125f comes with one), a feature that is becoming almost commonplace.

I'd say 4.5 out of 5 stars.

French amirauté Model 2018
total versatility, very smooth gearbox,
adapted to current regulations, the 6th can be driven at 50 km/h with ease, and above all with a full tank = 531.50 kms covered...! 3.2l/100
(with - de 5â'¬ = 100 kms) if anyone does better, I'd love to hear about it.
Rating : 5/5
French Benoit Model 2018
A real bike, not very feisty, but it gets out of the way (it's a small-displacement bike), gets the hang of it in just a few kilometers and is super economical on fuel, insurance and maintenance.
A cushy bike for a ride or to work that will save your license.

French Matt Model 2016
Ideal for an A2 license. This is my first bike, and it's easy to handle and very reassuring. A trail riding position that lets you see far ahead, and a comfortable seat for both solo and duo riding. Top-notch. Rating : 5/5
Elle sait tout faire
French Model 2017
Motorcyclist since 1979, I chose the cbx 500 after two versys, more powerful but heavier and more greedy. After running it in on a 1100 km road trip, I'm delighted with this bike, which adapts to all types of roads and tracks, with a comfort and homogeneity I've never experienced before... despite the modest power of this machine, I never feel underpowered. Vive la décroissance.... Rating : 5/5

Excellent choix
French Pierre Model 2016
Your comments were very helpful! New a2 licence despite my 40th birthday, because I registered at the beginning of July instead of the end of June. The bike is docile and easy to tame for a "young" license holder. As for the engine, it doesn't push too hard, even if I don't have much to compare it with. Well, there's plenty to have fun with. I pushed it to 170 and it didn't flinch, even if it vibrated a little. Its cruising speed for me is 120 130, a delight! as for fuel consumption, it's effectively a camel, around 4l/100. In terms of looks, it's very nice (I got it in black) and its size gives the impression of driving a bigger car. On the other hand, it's plastic-landed, but for 6,000 euros with a small dealer discount, you don't have to ask for the moon. For the price, it's an excellent bargain! Enjoy the ride! Rating : 4/5
Celle qui me fallait : CB500X
French REMI Model 2016
Motorcycle that meets my expectations. Solo use, great comfort when seated, sufficient braking etc... A motorcycle that's both urban (very, very easy to ride, gearbox locks easily and smoothly, high-performance braking for everyday use) and travel-friendly (reliable, economical and easy to get around on). I wouldn't change this choice for anything in the world, and what's more, it consumes less than 4l/100 km. Of course, it's all downhill from here, but there are more people on the roads, more speed controls, and in the end, motorcycle accidents are not decreasing - on the contrary! TR insurance with theft for 230 euros/year. I fitted it with a front GB extender, a rear GB extender and a center stand. Ordered a Top Case support from SHAD. All that's left is to take to the back roads and byways. Why not Ireland? Rating : 5/5

i would like a reliable motorcycle cheap maintenance but not powerful enough for me used to 700 transalp abs pity.manque power am not beginner pity with a few more horses 65 for example ok but there no pity Rating : 5/5
French Fred Model 2016
First rides with it. Really meets my expectations. Powerful and torquey enough for touring. Efficient, safe and economical. Good looks. More of a crossover than a real trail bike, with a very comfortable driving position. In short, a very good deal for the price. Highly recommendable. Rating : 5/5
French Sergei
Hello,
I have a 28-year-old 600 Transalp that I want to replace. I have very little space in my garage, which is why I'm interested in this model. However, I'm wondering if my 1.85 size is too big. What do you think?
The qualities of this model seem remarkable.
Thank you for your reply.

Hello Sergei.
I don't think your size is a problem, but you'll have to redo the saddle (either yourself, or by a professional in the style of shiny saddlery)... It's an excellent bike in any case.
