presentation of the GL 1800 GOLDWING F6B 2017
a few more examples of the F6B will be available this year... to say goodbye to this singular bagger. Honda didn't offer it a passport to standards, and its career is coming to an end. And yet, an admirable test ride. Half-Goldwing half-custom... Is that possible? What tuner would dare attempt such a challenge? Can we even contemplate stripping the Japanese golden bird, when its very raison d'être is excess and the culmination of Grand Touring motorcycling?
It's possible, it's called the F6B, and Honda has done it.
insane! But that's not all. The biggest Japanese manufacturer doesn't venture off the beaten track without a good reason. Here, it's the American market that's talking, and a growing trend for baggers; you know, that mix of GT and custom, where the road is only conceivable with a pair of suitcases, a windscreen and style. The F6B is based on the same principle: a stripped-down Goldwing that retains only the essentials, namely a piece of windscreen at the top of the forkhead and a set of panniers. Bye bye the big windscreen, the top case, the passenger seat and running boards, the senatorial seat, the heated seat, the reverse gear, the auto indicator canceller, and the optional GPS and airbag. That's a lot less junk, and the result is a weight reduction of 28 kilos and a price reduction of around 6,000 euros.
Sleeker, almost airy, this Goldwing light features a new seat, footrests and passenger grips, newly designed side panels, and retains its USB, iPod, MP3-compatible audio system.
the F6B sets itself apart from all other baggers: in addition to its affiliation with the most majestic of GTs, it's also the only one with a 6-cylinder engine. Inimitable smoothness, suppleness and availability, perfect for lifting 384 kilos with delight. Its 118 hp are nothing exceptional (BMW's inline 6 1600 produces 160 hp), but its roundness and pleasantness are of a pedigree of majesty. The F6B's behavior is very similar to that of the Goldwing, as neither the engine nor the chassis have been modified. The super-bagger boasts first-rate technical equipment, with its aluminum perimeter frame, 45 mm forks with anti-dive systemaBS braking combined with 2 x 296 mm front discs, a 316 mm rear disc and 3-piston calipers.
The F6B's custom look is rounded off by matte or glossy black accents on the engine, wheels, frame, engine cowling, fork and tubular side guards. The fairing sides are inlaid with chrome logos made exclusively for the model.

Merci pour vos réponses

It purrs perfectly and has plenty of torque
With 2 pots two brothers, the sound is worthy of a small porch
Mine is a 2016 40th anniversary and the reverse gear is present on this model.
Even for others from 2014
i love this bike ..... Rating : 5/5 Respond to Christian
What I (perhaps) "lost" in looks, I very largely gained in riding pleasure: phenomenal flexibility of the 6cyl..,
perfect rigidity of the frame, combined front-rear braking, anti-dive fork system, 2017 model with reverse gear Rating : 5/5 Respond to matatm
5 gears in a flash. Where's 6th?
Fortunately, the OD indicator for "0ver Drive" is there to remind us that we're done playing with the selector. Watch out for the weight at low speeds under 20 km/h, otherwise it's a real drag. Except for the shrill injection noise, like all our competitors. And the sound of the front tire rolling over the fork in the fairing. And when are we going to get a watertight bellows that will also prevent grains of sand from jumping all over the place?
No reverse gear? Too bad! And cruise control? And a center stand? Instead of the useless radio...
Otherwise, what a splendid cruiser, with its large windshield, passenger backrest and luggage rack, and what comfort! Rating : 4/5 Respond to gerbill29
I bought last year
the cross country because I liked it more.
now I like the F6B a lot more, so I'm selling my cross country to buy this F6B model, which I repeat, is a change from all the old-fashioned custom bikes of today.
i think the designers are just m.....e.
it's all because we're afraid of renewal, going dark and making bikes where we drool over them.
music has evolved, but motorcycles have not, except for a few like the RUNE, which has evolved, why not others like it?
