presentation of the CB 1000 R 2021
The Honda CB 1000 R evolves with subtlety for 2021. The idea is to preserve its identity, singular in both appearance and name, while revisiting moments of elegance. Neo Sports Café adds a few chocolate almonds to the mix.
A little boorish, almost too serious, muscular in an offbeat suit, Honda's big roadster was meant to be in a different vein from the streetfighter clan. A few years have convinced it to rethink its physique. With softness? More like a certain delicacy.
You'll immediately notice the difference with its headlamp, with its nuanced curve. A key element of the CB 1000 R's identity, it curves from the front to give a gentle eye. The aluminum parts on the edges of the tank and airbox benefit from the same stylistic élan.
The Honda takes advantage of this little refreshment to change the rims, apply a brushed treatment to bring out the aluminum of the rear loop and remove a little material from the plate holder.
None of this is exceptional, yet the big CB looks sexier this way.

The most obvious change on this machine is the dashboard. Like all the latest-generation roadsters and sports bikes, the CB 1000 R features a color TFT screen. At 5 inches, it's a compact unit. 4 display types are available, with clean, well-thought-out layouts, without extravagance; in short, Honda. To change on-board parameters and assistants, everything is controlled by the left-hand switch.
With an audio kit in your headset, you can interact with the instrumentation via the Honda Smartphone Voice Control. You can manage calls, e-mails, navigation and music.
By the way, how do I charge my cell phone? There's a USB socket under the seat.
The riding aids have been carried over from theex-CB 1000 R, with no additions, losses or modifications. They include deactivatable torque control, engine braking management and multiple power levels. To coach them, 4 riding modes are available:
- USER to set your own parameters.
- SPORT for full power in all gears, with minimal intervention in engine braking and traction control... torque control, I mean... the thing that calms down traction.
- STANDARD with less power in the first 2 gears, less torque if you don't weld the grip, a slightly calmer watts curve but close to "Sport" and an intermediate level for engine braking and traction.
- RAIN limits power and torque on the first 3 gears, intervenes moderately on engine braking, fully on traction control and engages the lowest power curve.
A quick look at the turn signals: in addition to the automatic stop function, they can now be activated when you brake like a pig.

2 x 310 mm brake discs and 4-piston radial calipers provide the braking power at the front. The rear brakes are less demanding, with a 256 mm disc and twin-piston caliper. An ABS to keep things in check; not yet Cornering, although this upgrade is making its presence felt exponentially.
continuity for the Honda CB 1000 R. Its evolution is all about nuance, retaining the essentials while offering a layer of modernity. There's no question of this roadster going overboard and entering the hyperfighter arms race. That's not its philosophy, nor that of its customers. On the other hand, when it comes to reincarnating the CB 1000 Big One with a personal neo-mouvance style, the machine hits the nail on the head

No vice in this civilized bike. A slight weakness in the shock absorber, but I didn't touch the original setting. On the other hand, the pots go down very low. Don't have fun going down a curb. Touchdown guaranteed.
Finally, a very interesting price/performance ratio, not to mention a 5-year warranty. Rating : 5/5 Respond to Patrice
My twentieth bike, for me simply the best. Rating : 5/5 Respond to Éric
