engine-wise, the Shadow C2's twin is derived from that of the 600. By contrast, the dimensions of the bike itself are more akin to those of the 1100. Classic and classy, this slightly nostalgic custom flatters the eye with its dashboard grafted onto the tank, its set of twin shocks and its chromed finish. The big headlamp is imposing, the liquid-cooling system reassures us of its reliability, and the engine is seductive but with mixed enthusiasm. Very supple and docile, this twin also shows character for lack of power. It's best appreciated in the mid-range. The city doesn't scare this custom, which doesn't make its weight felt too much. You'll certainly be impressed by its looks, but not so much by its comfort. Like most custom bikes, the 750 Shadow imposes a typical riding position which, combined with the short-travel suspension, encourages you to book a physio. Finish and practical aspects are not its strong points, but it's above all its looks that interest us.

I've been riding it for about 3 years now, and have clocked up over 40,000 km with great pleasure. It's currently damaged following an accident, but I intend to restore it, with a little customization, and keep it until the end. It's a great bike. You could criticise its lack of performance, but you have to remember that a custom bike isn't designed for performance but for cruising.
I'm perfectly happy with it, I'd even say I love it. I'm planning to buy another bike, but I'll never part with the Shadow. Rating : 4/5

No, the motorcycle's power is less than 47.5 hp. So it's not necessary, and it's not possible, because in 2000, the A1 license was in force, and the A2 license didn't yet exist. Rating : 5/5

It's a good bike, but it's missing 10 hp to be good, especially on the freeway or main road when overtaking. Otherwise, the best cruising speed is 90 to 110 km/h, above that not so good because of the wind. Reliability at its best, reasonable parts, except for the 10mm non-universal fuel filter here. Lack of reasonably priced aftermarket accessories and a fuel gauge lol. Top passenger pair, the passenger seat is more comfortable than the driver.

For my part, above 180cm you need advanced controls and ape hanger handlebars for comfort. Rating : 3/5

Custom ô how nice, pleasant to ride and really rewarding! I've only had it a few months, but I don't regret this workhorse; a good all-rounder and faithful companion!

The finned motor is reminiscent of good old air-cooling, except that it's water-cooled (endurance, flexibility, reliability)... The only drawback is the chain; it's a pity that the cardan shaft was introduced in 2004

Average fuel consumption of 5l/100km; nearly 6 liters if you ride dynamically. Nothing to reproach it for, unfailing durability; all-purpose in spite of everything; very little weight felt at standstill and everyone can put both feet down. Nothing to complain about, it's a Honda, it lasts over time ;)

Compatible with the new A2 license (reformed in 2013) because 46 hpx and power/weight ratio of about 0.15 (divide the Kw by the empty weight)= 34.96Kw / 229 = 0.15266 :) Rating : 5/5

I've had this bike for 2 years, it's my second 750. It's perfect for touring, even with a bit of highway, which is limited to 130 anyway. I've added a windscreen, but otherwise it's perfect and doesn't fall short of the Harleys. In any case, I never run out of battery or transponder. Hahaha..
Inexpensive in terms of maintenance and insurance, it has all the features of a big machine, without the drawbacks

The rear brake should be used as a retarder, especially when cornering, otherwise the front brake should be used for braking. I've never had a scare. On the other hand, you always have to bear in mind that you don't have the braking power of a car, so keep your distance. Otherwise, this well-balanced, easy-to-handle bike is a joy to ride! i've had this shadow 750 since nov 2017 (A2), and it's been nothing but happiness. mine's from 99 and has a hell of a kick, although obviously it's not made for touring. it has everything a harley has, but it's more affordable: purchase price, maintenance, price of spare parts, non-specific tools, insurance, etc. And now i've got my A gateway, and well you know what? i'm gaaaaarrrrrrde it!

I'm in the process of getting my license and I've just been told that I won't be able to drive it for another 2 years because this model isn't clamped!!!! Is this true???
I'm devastated because this bike is my dream bike... since I was 10 years old, I've been dreaming of this style of bike (Harley style) because I'm a big fan of motorcycles and Elvis too!

after your A2 license, your bike must not exceed 47.5hp.
The Shadow VT750 makes 46hp. A friend from a forum has just passed his A2 test and is riding a Shadow VT 750, so you'll be able to ride the bike of your dreams once you've got your A2 license, and I wish you good luck.
To get help with your license, do what I do, go to youtube and watch Shift87's videos.

I bought this bike in December 2018, having obtained my license in September 2018, I'm in A2 and it's one of the reasons that guided my choice, originally it makes 46hp(33,85kw)< 47hp(35 kw) and weighs 246 kg ==> a power to weight ratio of 33,85/246= 0,13 kw/kg < 0.2 kw/kg, all of which is to say that this machine can be ridden by anyone with an A2 license, and personally, I'm 53 years old and a big fan, as far as comfort is concerned, with a rucksack wedged against the sisi bar, i rode 800 km in 3 days without freeway (Cannes Grenoble, Rumilly, Lons, Dole, Langres, Troyes) and my eldest didn't see me (which I was honestly afraid he would), it's my first bike and I don't regret my choice at all. Hello, I own a 1998 shadow 750 bought used in 2006 at 40000 km. It now has 80000 km and no worries. Regular maintenance only.
Very reasonable fuel consumption, even after adding a windscreen. I easily cover the KM without fatigue. I've tried several other custom bikes but never found the same pleasure (sound, handling, comfort...) as the shadow. So I'm taking good care of it and keeping it. Rating : 5/5

I'm on a 1997 vt750c and I'm very happy. If you maintain your chain well, a shot every two hundred kilometers, you will do 40000 kms with your chain, I currently have 42000 and I change it next week. Fuel consumption is perfectly acceptable if you ride coolly and regularly. Put on a real bubble and you'll feel like a pacha. Oh, yes, don't forget your crankcase protector, a plus if you're lying down alone, so you can lift it up easily, because, yes, everyone lies down one day, there's nothing to be ashamed of. Raising it on your own, that's sport with an arthrodesis at L5 - S1. It never breaks down, and maintenance remains accessible.

_Having owned x2 sporster's 1200, a softail 1450, as well as a new intruder 800 volusia, and currently a shadow 750 vt from 1999 with 22000 km, I observe that this motorcycle is generous in its comfort despite a little less space than the intruder which wins for me the prize for comfort in general on long distance /day approx 700 km.
honda's motorcycle circuits are more "regular" in their maintenance bills than Harley's, which drove me away! A good point for Suzuki too.
a little tinkering with the muffler on the shadow gave me a respectable low-end sound and a reminder of the bewitching Harley sound, with the added bonus of tasty throttle feedback. On the intruder, I hadn't managed to get that kind of music from a real, self-respecting custom...
The weight of both the shadow and the intruder is pleasant for an old guy like me who has a problem with his left leg, but a harley softail or a sporster is heavier and therefore less enjoyable as a duo on mountain roads.
My choice of the shadow 750 seems well thought-out and positive from all points of view, considering that I'm on my 28th bike!
and that at the moment I'm keen to keep an eye on the overall cost of each bike (maintenance, etc.) as I'm riding a bmw r 1100 gs and a Yamaha xt 600 E at the same time.
i hope that my point of view has remained objective and will inform you.

I've had it since 2000 and I never tire of it. It's always an eye-catcher, and I like its torque at low revs, but if you rev it up, the engine tends to choke. It would have deserved a few more horses (46 hp is a bit short). Cornering is a little tricky at first, but in the end it's very maneuverable around town.

Having first tried my hand at the vt 125 for 2 years. I finally decided to pass the little pink piece of paper with only one thing on my mind=vt750. Since I was a kid, it's been winking at me every time I've had the chance to cross its path, and now here it is. I've been riding it for about a year now. Solo or duo, this bike is a delight to ride. Its torquey revs make overtaking quick and easy (without any real fuss), and its admittedly imposing size actually proves docile and cooperative on city journeys and when cornering. My personal opinion is that this bike is a little jewel that waits for the right moment to surprise and seduce us again.

Hi, I've had this bike for 2 years now, I've been riding it for 1,000 kilometers a month and I've got nothing to complain about. I've just done a 4-day weekend (over 1,600 kms) and I'm looking forward to travelling again, with a trip to Ireland planned. Honda offers us the retro HD look and the pleasure of custom for a price within the reach of many people for whom HD remains an untouchable dream. I've just got this 1998 Shadow 750 ACE, before it I had the Z1000, RF600R, Bandit600, so it was a real discovery ..
At first, it was the riding position that was the hardest for me to appreciate: with the controls moved forward, the angles of the tank were digging into my adductors, along with the vibrations it emitted....aie aie aie. As for the engine, I quickly realized that pushing the gears like a fool was useless! it's at low revs that it expresses itself best!!! without the bubble, getting into the wind is a real struggle!! I almost sold it in the days following the first ride ...
What's more, the torque it develops at low revs really appeals to me, especially on small country roads when there are rolling turtles on the way to work!
it commands respect, and as a result my riding is a lot cooler, slower, less dangerous and wiser! That's what this bike has given me, and today I've got adductor muscles made of concrete!

Well, my good old 750 c2 shadow, bought in December 1998, is on the road every day and in all weathers. It now has 270,000 km - yes, yes! you read that right, two hundred and seventy thousand kilometers and I can tell you that nothing will make me change my bike, good engine because to date I haven't done anything to it, not even the clutch, but some accessories age badly, the speedo doesn't like humidity, the caliper piston seals wear out quickly, the front wheel bearing is a bit fragile, but otherwise it's top-notch, no oil consumption, low kerosene consumption, good roadholding apart from on small, rough roads, and if you feel like playing Kevin Scwhantz, it'll go with you, with a bit of slippage at the rear, but when you like it.... she takes angles, and my reanger's heels are a bit beaten by the tarmac, a chain kit that's done about 25,000 kilometers and a set of tires between 27 and 30,000 kilometers... in short, my darling takes me everywhere and has always been faithful, provided I get regular maintenance. Well, guys, that's all there is to it... and a big hello to all those who love the shadow. Rating : 5/5

Hi, I've had a VT 750 Shadow C2 for nearly 4 years now. Like all motorcycles, it's not without its little faults: the engine is a bit tight and tends to choke when you rev it up, the proportioning is often tricky for cornering, and it doesn't appreciate road irregularities. On the other hand, as someone who mainly does city driving and short trips, I'm very happy with it: generous torque, superb looks, great reliability, comfortable. Rating : 5/5

so, my shadow 750, which i bought in february 2004, is superb, black and purple. i've added a royal-star windshield, where you can see through it, homemade deflectors on the forks, front and rear plates with homemade double speed selector, a pair of panniers and a top-case. i can tell you that in this version, it's superb, and I've had nothing but compliments, except from the Harley HOG, who tells me that I'd be better off on an 883 to get the same price, and what's more, I wouldn't even have an option for that price on a Harley, because it's so expensive, and what's more, it'd be a second-hand bike. and between you and me, it looks a bit mobile next door. DE LA M...E. In short, I'm very satisfied with it, despite the fact that the engine isn't a thunderbolt, it fires well when you ask it to and is also very comfortable for long use. its weight is relatively reasonable but still heavy enough to be stable when there's a lot of wind, well here with a huge yamaha royal star visor. I can get around almost as well as with my 125 shadow that I had before in town. as for fuel consumption, it's unbelievable: between 4.8 l and 5.2 l with all the equipment, if not without, at the start I was doing 4.3 l with two on top on mountain roads. of course, all that on SP 95. in short, it's an excellent bike that honda has concocted for us once again, and I think it's a tribute that they've made the shapes much more square on the new version, but you have to renew the range too.
