presentation of the NUDA 900 R 2012
With this roadster of particularly lively taste and design, Husqvarna is stirring up the market a little and moving into a sector far removed from its usual territory. Really? Back in the 70s, Husqvarna was already present in the road segment. 40 years on, the transalpine firm unveils its new generation of road bikes. This unexpected model on the market combines Husqvarna's inimitable Italian style, history and racing experience with the technological innovations and know-how of the BMW Group.
Unquestionably, this is the start of a new adventure for Husqvarna.
a foretaste of things to come
at the crossroads between roadsters and supermotards, this machine doesn't fit into any real existing category. It's a model of true design, combined with a dynamic, lively, agile feel, thanks to a minimalist yet perfectly balanced package that delivers an instant flow of sensations.
Is it a supermotard? A naked-bike? The Nuda gives free rein to individual pleasure: it's a Fun-bike imagined by Husqvarna.
a design, a line, a symptomatic line, let yourself be contaminated
at the factory northwest of Milan, the Husqvarna design team drew inspiration from the brand's heritage and TT culture. The Nuda's design, though minimalist in appearance, is tapered and extended from front to rear, with a long, flowing line. The exposed trellis frame, the prominent high-positioned exhaust and the red high-performance cylinder head behind this partially stripped envelope are the foundations of the Nuda.
Sporty, curious and surprising, the new Husqvarna model highlights the bold Italian style of a reborn brand.
The Nuda 900R proudly wears the brand's colors, in this case red and white, Husqvarna's competition colors. Colors made famous by successes and victories.
a supercharged twin
husqvarna knows that the heart of a motorcycle is its engine... which is why the Italian firm has made the engine the fundamental element of the Nuda project. husqvarna has taken the reliable and technologically advanced twin-cylinder Béhème engine of the F 800 as its engine base to power the Nuda. Displacement has been increased from 798 cm3 to 898 cm3, with a 2 mm increase in bore to 84 mm and a 5.4 mm increase in stroke to 81 mm. Similarly, the compression ratio has been revised to 13:0. Other important modifications to the German block include the use of a new triple-layer high-compression cylinder head gasket, re-calibrated camshafts, and modified pistons and connecting rods to accommodate an all-new crankshaft. Finally, to give the Nuda its own unique Husqvarna character, the crankshaft timing has been shifted to 315 degrees, further distinguishing it from its German cousin.
the result is an engine with a vigorously dynamic and playful behavior that bears no comparison with its "donor", and it also gives Husqvarna a new, light and sporty block. It's not just the feel that has changed, but above all the torque and power performance. Thanks to its new design and new 33 mm inlet valves and 28.5 mm exhaust valves, Husqvarna's engine engineers have brought twin-cylinder power to 105 hp and 100 Nm (9.78 mkg) of torque, all the while retaining its smooth, torquey nature when delivering low- and mid-range power.
For the occasion, the crankshaft compensation balance has also been redesigned to eradicate unpleasant engine vibrations, while retaining the lubrication system (dry sump) and 30 degrees of inclination. Compared to its German cousin, the Nuda offers the not inconsiderable distinction of being fuel-efficient. The engine features an optimized intake manifold from BMW-KP, combined with two 46 mm butterfly valves.

The engine is flanked by Husqvarna's trademark red cylinder head finish.
spicy chassis
with its solid racing experience, Husqvarna benefits from strong chassis expertise. They found this basis in the steel trellis frame of the BMW F 800 GS. Husqvarna has reworked the frame by reducing its length by 50 mm, then reinforcing it with an 80 mm section at the steering column. The bike's handling and liveliness come from a reduced steering column angle compared to the German trail bike. Agile at low speeds, slender and easy to ride, the Nuda is perfectly suited to unbridled, unrestrained use in an urban environment.
To further enhance the sensations and assert the Nuda's sporty side, Husqvarna has equipped the châssis of the 900 R version with top-of-the-range components such as a fully adjustable 48 mm diameter Sachs fork and a fully adjustable Öhlins shock absorber. The increased ground clearance has a direct impact on the bike's handling, giving it responsiveness and precision.
While the Nuda benefits from a two-seater, double-level seat for greater comfort when riding as a duo, the 900 R features a single seat that is 15mm higher (890mm vs. 875mm), offering the rider a more engaging position for sporty riding.
the development team in charge of the Nuda project made ergonomics and handling the only two priorities. To promote these two criteria, the Italian engineers had to make technical choices such as integrating the fuel tank under the seat to lower the center of gravity and distribute the masses as close as possible to the center of gravity. The result is an incredibly manoeuvrable, lightweight motorcycle that offers great stability at high speed, but is also very agile at low speed. all this with a natural riding position that will suit beginners as well as more experienced riders in search of sensations: that's a Fun-bike imagined by Husqvarna.
and the Nuda delivers sensations in spades, even on the racetrack!
While the Nuda 900 is equipped with radial brake calipers supplied by Brembo, favoring already muscular braking, the 900R features monobloc calipers. 4-piston aluminum monoblock calipers, to further emancipate its sporty appeal. Note that these are Racing elements which, when coupled with 320 mm discs as on the 900R, deliver tenfold braking power.
The final sensitive point in the specifications is the weight, which does not exceed 174 kg. A fundamental element of the concept as much as the engine, it actively contributes to the Nuda's handling and ergonomic criteria.

Bikers' reviews Leave a review - 10 reviews
The brakes are a little oversized for the weight and top speed, but once you've got used to them, there's nothing to worry about. A bike for enthusiasts, to be cherished and used without moderation. Rating : 5/5 Respond to Enzo
Excellent, light and powerful, very present torque, exhilarating sound (especially with a Remus, which is dice lighter)
Maintenance remains BMW periodicity and very inexpensive.
No problems to report..
Now only available second-hand, I highly recommend this bike, even for travel
A minimum of experience is required, but it remains very intuitive
(apart from HM Ducati SP, which costs an arm and a leg, or DORSO, which is heavier, I don't know what I'd choose again...)
or the same one in ABS... but almost impossible to find... Rating : 5/5 Respond to ZITOR
