presentation of the FE 501 2016

The most powerful engine in the Husqvarna enduro range delivers power smoothly from idle to maximum revs. This 4-stroke engine can be run in the highest gear while retaining exceptional torque, while the chromoly frame, polyamide rear section, 4CS fork and link rear suspension ensure handling and stability fit for World Championship racing. The standard handlebar-mounted map switch and electric starter complete the FE 501's outstanding features.

engine

the FE 501's 510.4 cm3 single overhead camshaft 4-stroke engine has a 95 mm bore and 72 mm stroke. The two lightweight, DLC-coated rocker arms drive two lightweight titanium intake valves measuring 38 mm and 32 g, and two steel exhaust valves measuring 33 mm and 42 g. The high, linear power delivery is easily achieved.

redesigned DDS clutch

the DDS (damped diaphragm steel) clutch system is fitted to the FE 501 for smooth clutch engagement and easy control. A single-diaphragm steel pressure plate is used instead of coil springs. It is integrated into a damping system for improved driveability and longer durability. The clutch housing is a one-piece CNC-machined steel component, allowing the use of thin steel liners and contributing to the engine's compact dimensions. For the AM 16 range, the FE 450 and FE 501 clutch housings are 80 g lighter and feature an optimized pressure plate for improved modulation and durability.

cartography switch fitted as standard

with the mapping switch fitted as standard on all enduro models except the TE 125, the characteristics of the power delivered by thethe engine's power delivery characteristics can be modified to suit the terrain and the rider's preferences.

crankshaft and connecting rod

world-class performance and incredible reliability are achieved through the most advanced crankshaft and connecting rod technologies. All 4-stroke engines feature crankshafts and connecting rods manufactured by industry leader Pankl, ensuring by far the best durability and longest service intervals in the competitive enduro segment (135 hours between major engine overhauls). Smooth connecting-rod bearing bushes and press-fit bearing shells ensure high performance and durability.

chromoly steel frame

high-quality, high-strength steel is laser-cut and robot-welded to rigorous standards by WP Performance Systems, in precise compliance with the torsional rigidity, longitudinal flexibility and weight defined by our R&D department. Precisely defined torsional rigidity enables great handling and promotes stability, while longitudinal flexibility facilitates the absorption of terrain impacts and, in combination with the suspension, gives greater comfort and a better feel. The lightweight design allows riders to choose faster routes with confidence and maintain a steady racing pace over long periods.

aluminium swingarm

a great deal of development effort has gone into the aluminum swingarm to meet the very ambitious targets set by our professional riders. The precisely studied flexion of the swingarm gives riders a perfect feel for the terrain, enabling them to adjust power to the rear wheel for optimum traction and speed. The one-piece construction of the aluminum swingarm eliminates the need for welds, providing greater reliability, stability and safety than other manufacturing processes, as well as superior quality and consistent performance over time.

fairing

the stylish, modern fairing has been designed for optimum man-machine fit and total control in all conditions, whatever the rider's build.

wheels and tires

black DID high-strength alloy wheels are matched by CNC-machined hubs and silver-anodized aluminum spoke nipples, for excellent performance and a modern look.World Championship-level performance from Michelin Enduro Competition IV front tires and Michelin Enduro Competition III rear tires.

rear links

now in its third year of development, the rear linkage on Husqvarna enduros is proving to be the optimum choice for all riding styles and skill levels. This versatile system performs well on a wide variety of terrains, from narrow, technical tracks to wide, high-speed circuits. The high level of comfort provided by our linkage system allows the rider to tackle rough terrain with optimum feel and traction in all circumstances.

new rear shock absorber settings

wP's high-performance DCC (Dual Compression Control) rear shock absorber has a revised setting and new valves to match the geometry and setting changes on the front axle. This new setup improves damping characteristics and balance. The high-performance DCC (Dual Compression Control) rear shock absorber has been designed by WP Performance Systems and guarantees excellent damping characteristics, as well as maximum feel and comfort. The shock absorber is fully adjustable for rebound and high/low speed compression.

new 22 mm front axle

the details of the improvements made to the AM 16 enduros concern the front axle, where a new 22 mm front wheel axle fitted with specific fork legs replaces the old 26 mm axle. The new axle is lighter, and the fork legs have a smaller offset and greater caster, giving greater stability and better front-end feel.

22 mm fork crown offset

cNC-machined fork tees on all bikes now have a 22 mm offset. The resulting reduction in caster compensates for the increase in caster caused by the new front wheel axle and fork legs, providing an optimum balance between agility and stability. The fork crowns are made from high-quality materials, precision-machined and anodized in dark black.they are designed to evenly distribute the clamping force on the fork crown and maximize the contact area for optimum sensitivity and minimal friction. The fork tees offer precise flexibility and perfectly complement the fork, transmitting detailed information to the rider. Ergonomics are crucial to rider feel and confidence, which is why the handlebars can be adjusted to four different positions to suit all types of rider.

electric starter

the standard electric starter provides reliable, effortless starting, which is particularly appreciated in difficult terrain. The 4-stroke engine can be fitted with a kick starter.

tool-free air filter access

tool-free access to the airbox, combined with a screwless air filter mounting system, makes maintenance and inspection of the air filter easier and quicker. All models feature a dual air filter as standard, and a specially designed air intake neck for maximum power.

new seat trim

the new saddle pad is highly resistant and has a much higher grip than the previous material. The color, now dark blue, blends perfectly with the new fairing color.

blue anodized rear sprocket

the Supersprox 2K blue-anodized rear sprocket makes a major contribution to further enhancing the sporty look, as well as improving quality and performance. The high-strength steel teeth last at least three times longer than aluminum sprockets, while the lightweight aluminum inner ring reduces unsprung weight by 50% compared with steel sprockets.
