presentation of the P1 2024
Presented as a "masterpiece" for city traffic, the P1 attracts attention with its angular, brutalist design, often compared to Tesla's Cybertruck.
Designed by brothers Joe and Eddie Cohen, the P1 is the fruit of their desire to create a serious alternative to conventional personal vehicles. They opted for a radical aesthetic that contrasts with the traditional curves of two-wheelers, using sturdy steel and anodized aluminum construction to give the scooter an industrial, minimalist look.
Tech & design
It's equipped with a 6 kW motor housed in the rear hub, enabling it to reach a top speed of 65 mph (approx. 105 km/h). However, for drivers without a motorcycle license, a software restriction limits speed to 30 mph (approx. 48 km/h). The vehicle also features a "Turbo Boost" mode for even faster acceleration, and a reverse gear for easier manoeuvring in confined spaces.
Autonomy is rated at around 60 miles (96 km) in an urban environment, thanks to its removable 3.2 kWh (72V 45Ah) battery. The battery, UL 2271 certified for fire resistance, can be recharged from a standard household socket. The scooter incorporates an advanced technology suite. The dashboard is a 7-inch touchscreen compatible with Apple CarPlay wirelessly. For safety and convenience, the P1 is equipped with front and rear cameras, a sophisticated lock and alarm system, 24/7 GPS tracking and over-the-air (OTA) software update capabilities. Owners can use their smartphone as a key to unlock it and receive alerts in the event of a break-in attempt.
Modularity
Functionality is at the heart of the P1's design. It includes under-seat storage and a front compartment, as well as an interchangeable module system that allows users to add accessories for transport, such as panniers or even speakers.
With a starting price of $10,000, the P1 falls into the high-end electric scooter category.
