presentation of the Z 900 RS 2026

"Where have you been?
- Just out for a walk. I squeezed in Euro5+ and did some shopping.
- Cool! Good thing you haven't changed :-)"

That's what you think...! The Z 900 RS may not have moved an inch in terms of design, but it's got a lot of new tricks up its sleeve. Compliance has been accompanied by a higher compression ratio, revised exhaust manifolds and a 5hp gain for the 4-cylinder. The Z1's distant descendant now boasts 116 horsepower. On the other hand, the engine's potency and maximum torque are higher.

And much more electronics to modulate the horses. The addition of ride-by-wire and a central inertial unit has enabled a series of upgrades and functionalities. The Kawasaki Z 900 RS "evo" is fitted as standard with an Up&Down shifter, ABS cornering KCMF and cruise control.
Interaction is further enhanced by Bluetooth smartphone pairing and the Rideology app.

One of the most successful neo-retro models

In the history of Kawasaki, certain models have a reputation that is in no way blunted by time. A decade ago, it was the H2 that the brand put back on the rails of the thrill of power. Now it's the turn of the retro segment to take pride of place, with a key bike of the '70s: the 900 Z1. It was Kawa's riposte to the famous Honda CB 750 Four. As the neo-retro segment is particularly buoyant, the greens launched their strike weapon: the Z 900 RS. And it smells of success.

The look is perfect. From a distance, it's impossible to distinguish the Z 900's manga-like, adrenaline-fuelled base. Up close... neither. Kawa's designers have done a fine job of cosmetics, constantly recalling the illustrious ancestor of the 70s. The Z 900 RS, for Rétro Sport, plunges us instantly into the past. The round headlamp, the old-fashioned meters, the wide, flat fuel tank, the added fins on the cylinder head, the long seat finished off with a full-on retro posterior, a more vintage-style exhaust, and those Z1 replica colors - everything contributes to perfecting the identity of this revival. Unlike Yamaha's XSR, which is hard to tell from the XS of yesteryear, the Kawasaki mimics its venerable inspirer very well. The only thing that seems out of place is the imposing radiator. We won't be getting the spoked wheels, but the design of the wheelset has its own cachet.

Le tableau de bord de la Kawasaki Z 900 RS

The dress will thrill many. Underneath, you'll find all the benefits of the Z 900 streetfighter , and more. The rider will have plenty of fun with a chassis that combines a steel trellis frame, inverted forks, dynamic behavior much improved since the Z 800, and a spirited engine. However, the RS has undergone a few modifications. On the braking front, 4-piston radial calipers are used, rather than the axial ones found on the old Z900 from which it was derived. The 4-cylinder engine produces a few less horsepower than the streetfighter, but enough to provide a nice trunk. Traction control was introduced before the Z 900. Gear ratios have been slightly revised to better match the spirit of the Z 900 RS.

You'll be able to attack at will with the Z 900 RS, but why not wind up old-school with a personality like that? Especially since the riding position is much less incisive than on the standard Z 900. The neo-retro benefits from different handlebars, and the footrests are positioned 20 mm lower and just as far forward. You'll have to accept a few extra kilos and a higher price tag than the original roadster.
The Z 900 RS arrived at just the right time and in just the right way. Modern performance with the look of one of the most famous motorcycles of the 70s, and fashion to match. The machine doesn't even need to show off; the aura of its older sibling is enough to turn heads.

Pure pleasure
French Gian Model 2023
I own a magnificent 2023 model in a black livery with two piping strips on the fuel tank and in strict original condition, with only the passenger roll bar, which gives it a top vintage look. It's a pleasure to ride with every twist of the handle, with no intrusive electronics, the bike as I knew it when I was 18 ...... I'm 54 and it's a truly beautiful and rewarding bike to ride Rating : 5/5

Hello happy motorcyclists, I've had this bike for 4 years now. It's the 2021 model, and it's great fun to ride. A lot of torque, a very low noise level, and above all, it's very easy to handle. I added a fairly high wind jump, and no more wind, perfect! Rating : 5/5
French riton 07 Model 2022
Hello, I bought this bike in July 2024 and after 8000km it's still a pleasure to ride. I'm 65 and I've had a lot of roadsters, sports bikes and GTs. Without hesitation, this will be my last, given my ripe old age. To stay in the vintage spirit, I've fitted the 4 pots identical to the old ones.
Finally, I'm enjoying myself.

after buying this 2018 RS second-hand in april for nostalgia, with 27,000 km, I'm really enjoying riding it on mountain roads; very smooth.A few shortcomings: shifting from 5th to 6th gear is sticky, as is downshifting, as I've heard on other 900 RSs; the clutch is fragile (3 springs instead of 5 for a machine of this power), so I changed it for a reinforced one. the braking is a bit limited, and the fork settings are incomprehensible to the average rider! otherwise, it's nothing but fun! Rating : 3/5
French Hoarn Model 2022
Superb bike, very pleasant to ride, both relaxed and aggressive
No mechanical problems after 15,000km, never stalled, no jerks on acceleration: a real clockwork. The only minor drawback: the brakes could be improved. All in all, a superb, high-performance, user-friendly machine.

After having ridden a Versys 650, I must admit that I bought this z900rs out of nostalgia (65 years old). It's understandable for me, it's an appreciable motorcycle in all respects, apart from its price, but you only get as much pleasure as you give yourself Rating : 4/5
French Rebelle 39 Model 2020
I bought this bike in April in Geneva, and I'm very happy with it. The only complaint is that you have to put it in first gear before starting, because it revs too fast on start-up and for a while, and when I'm having fun in the bends and I give a little throttle to downshift, sometimes it stalls. Rating : 5/5
French Yves 39
Hi Rebelle ,I bought my Kawa in May in Nyons. I have exactly the same problem as you. I've even seen it stall while riding several times in a row. It's a pain but I love this bike. Looking forward to hearing from you! Rating : 5/5
You can apparently solve the stalling problem by slightly increasing the idle speed (in the 1200rpm range) Rating : 5/5

When it's cold, turn the throttle in the opposite direction about 5 mm (to the stop) to lower the revs and shift into 1st gear, but it's best to wait for it to warm up.. Rating : 5/5

Torquey engine for a 4-cylinder, agile and comfortable chassis. The engine is amazing beyond 3,500 rpm. You can cruise at 80km/h (3000rpm) and if you want to overtake, no problem. The gearbox is a feast of flexibility and speed. The clutch is pleasantly smooth in town. Actual fuel consumption 4.5L-4.7L. Almost 350kms of surprising range! Rating : 5/5

French Kneef Model 2019
i have the 2019 café model - gray with a sportier stance
The chassis is the same as the roadster, with a much more supportive position on the wrists
This position encourages even more dynamic riding, and any opportunity is a good one to adopt
I'm planning to part with it and buy the classic version, which is now more comfortable for me to use, given my age (65).

super bike! very endearing machine! perfect engine and handling! you can rectify your trajectory in the middle of a bend, whatever it is, it doesn't flinch! the only fault I can find with it is the gearbox: lamentable, slow, inaccurate, it spoils the picture a bit, which is perfect without it. so is it my machine, because I don't see any criticism on this subject? A motorcycle with character for an astonishing 4-cylinder engine. Torquey 10 mkg at 6500 rpm; you can feel it around 3000 rpm. And at 5000 rpm, you feel a surge of energy. This is my first Kawa and I'm not disappointed. It's more comfortable than my old 2018 V-strom 1000. And it has a faster, more precise gearbox. No need to change the exhaust; it purrs very well ( 3000 rpm at 80km/h ). What's more, it doesn't consume a thing. Less than 5L, in cruising mode I managed to get it down to 4.3L. Switch to reserve at around 320 kms. Quality suspension with effective settings. More ch**** for rear preload. Rating : 5/5

They don't get bored with design at Kawa. It's a nice bike, but it looks a lot like the 1992 Zephyr, don't you think? https://www.motoplanete.com/kawasaki/6473/1100-Zephyr-1992/contact.html :-))
Well, it's lighter and more powerful. It's a pity it's so high, because with its paunchy tank and +83cm seat height, you're on the ground at 1m75, but not by much... 2cm less would have been more reassuring and comfortable!

Vraiment génial!!!!!
French laurentg Model 2019
I've been used to bi bikes for many years (I currently own a Ducati 800 scrambler and 1190 Adventure), but I was seriously bored by the 1000 Versys, with its soulless, linear engine. But this morning, while dropping off my wife's SV, I had the chance to try out this Z900RS, and what a surprise!
A very playful chassis, excellent comfort, easy to handle, very good braking and a magical engine... Torquey, no need to tickle the red zone to enjoy the sensations. At the slightest touch of the right-hand throttle, the bike leaps to the limit of violence (beware the unwary rider), and I love this temperament….After 12 years of abandoning the 4-cylinder, I think this bike has reconciled me with this type of engine...It smells like a good order. Some people think it's expensive, but the dealer is making me a very attractive offer with no trade-in on the ones he has in stock (new, 0 km). I'll give myself the weekend to think it over, but I really think I'll fall for it. I'm hesitating between the café racé racer and the brown/orange one. Bravo Kawasaki, a brand I've never owned after 25 bikes (Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Guzzi, Ducati and KTM)

Hello ,
10500km with my z900rs bought at COTTARD MOTOS in Maromme 76.
Motorcycle at the top, look, duo, ballads, performance, fuel consumption, a neo-retro frankly good!!!! I recommend it ! Criticism of the duo = obviously nothing to do with a GT! You have to choose and a souvenir from your teenage years, so the dream has come true. For the price, it's right up there with Triumph, Katana, BMW and Honda, but if you want a real neo-retro that rides well and is comfortable, the choice is limited! Bonne route .

A superbly balanced bike that's a real pleasure to ride. Very good engine character, allowing you to ride at your own pace without being pushed around. The finish is top-notch, and despite the 215kg weight on the scales, it's easy to ride and superbly versatile (after all, don't tell me it's a sportbike or that it'll take you to Dakar). Braking is good, suspension comfort excellent, but the seat is a little hard (avoid buying the low seat, as the standard one settles in the long run and looks like a "la creuse"). The price is a deterrent, but this bike has dynamic qualities worthy of non-neo-retro models, with a little extra soul. It's a far cry from the manga shapes of current production, which not everyone will appreciate. Kawasaki can always be criticized for copying and pasting its Zephyr (but the dynamic qualities are 3 notches higher) or for making something new out of something old (the Z in this case), but the result is conclusive for me. Having ridden Ducatis, Triumphs, Guzzis and quite a few Japanese bikes, I think I've found a good product. Perhaps the original tires should be reviewed, even for a sucker like me, and a 3 francs 6 cents mudguard extender to complete the package. In the end, the price was the only thing that stood in my way. Last but not least, a host of after-market accessories are available on the market, allowing you to customize your beast

French Denis Model 2018
As the owner of a 2017 CB 1100 RS, I was blown away when I tried out this new Kawa. Light, easy to handle and powerful, it's the complete opposite of mine. Price-wise, it's less expensive than the Honda and much more beautiful. It's clear that the price difference with the Z900 is enormous, but if you can afford it, don't hesitate, because the basic version, although more powerful, is like most modern Japanese motorcycles, horrible and totally unstylish. I've just ordered my Kawa and put my Honda up for sale. Rating : 5/5

French Jeff2A Model 2018
It's really a very pretty bike in terms of looks, and with performance to match.
But it's a pity that the price is outrageously high... 1,000 euros more than a standard roadster model - and with 14 hp less, by the way, while Yam has kept the same grunts as the MT09 on the XSR with only 4 kg more - is totally unjustified.
Or you could buy them preferentially second-hand (executive style bikes with low mileage, so already 1000 to 1500 euros in savings).
We can only hope that Suzuki will give us a neo-retro gift for 2018, because they still know how to produce good bikes at rock-bottom prices...

At last, a neo-retro with a real chassis and a modern engine, but at 12300â'¬...they're completely off the mark price-wise. Too bad, with 1300â'¬ less, it would still have been expensive, but I could have taken the plunge, but this is just too much... Redhibitory! Rating : 2/5

I was eagerly awaiting the model to replace the zzr, which was no longer in line with general road safety policy, and I was very disappointed by what appeared to be a sales price of around 12,000â'¬.
It's a load of rubbish.
As far as I'm concerned, it's staying with the dealer, so I'm hanging up the leather for good.

The kawa 900, 2017 in Spain with discount 8 650 â'¬ NOVEMBER 2017.
They think nostalgics have many, many, euros under the mattress.
For the other Kawa, 1972 I was 16, too young, not enough money,
But taking us for cash cows 12,500 â'¬, without me too bad.

To get a nice kawa, you have to go retro. It's a beautiful bike, far from kawa's wanderings and ugly space power rangers. If it's not as polished as the CB 1100, it's got a lot going for it, especially in terms of engines, where the Honda is lagging behind.
When will we see modern yet timeless Kawas that don't veer off into B-movie SF?
It's possible to be ugly and modern, as kawa demonstrates all too often.
Welcome to the z900.

according to motorcycle magazines, this z 900 rs should cost 11,000 euros and 180 kmh. with such arguments, the wind is blowing back, as the competition seems to me (in recent used condition) much better. i would have fallen for it if it hadn't cost more than 10,000 euros and if its speed were worthy of a BM (210 kmh).
too bad the surprise and envy won't be there. Apparently Kawa doesn't care about what its customers have to say.

Here's a beautiful machine with a nice round headlight that seems in tune with reality. A good hundred hp tax free and 10mkg of torque relatively low, it's perfect for me. (Retro has its limits, 48hp is not to be abused!!) if the seat is as comfortable as it is well designed that augurs great hours at its handlebars between touring and arsouille. I'm a fan of the meters. They're easy to read and make a real statement. The "all digital" design lacks charm for my taste. Like everyone else, the price will be fundamental. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for less than 11000â'¬ and then I'll give up my cb1000r. Rating : 5/5

Unfortunately, the price seems to be confirmed for Europe, at between 12 and 12,500 â'¬. For a 4-cylinder 900, based on the z900, with dual-cylinder rivals and over 1,000 cm3, that's a hefty price to pay, no matter how good it looks and feels (on paper, at least). Kawa is daring and bluffing a lot on this one, so it remains to be seen whether it really follows suit, but I'll have to pass. All the best. Rating : 2/5

superb bike, but with 800 euros to run it (registration, insurance, fuel...) up to 9500 euros it will remain possible otherwise too bad. Rating : 5/5
Z900RS
French nono Model 2018
It's a well-balanced, technological, sober, beautiful, easy-to-ride motorcycle that has all the qualities needed to bring the competition to its knees. I'm telling you, this bike is going to be a hit. You can fall head over heels in love with it and keep it for the rest of your life, because it's timeless. As for its price, many will be surprised by its value for money. It will be announced at the Milan show next month. Rating : 5/5

If the 12000 â'¬ are confirmed (excessive), it would indeed be a big problem for my project. It would be almost like Honda CB 1100 at 13000 â'¬. Watch out guys, Honda is having trouble selling its neo-retro, don't make the same mistake!!!! Rating : 3/5

A mid-size bike, based on the Z 900, starting at 12,000 roros? Almost the same price as the already expensive BM Nine T, in its basic version, or a 1200 Triumph Bonneville, or even a 1200 Harley sporster? Without me, but I don't really believe it, or else it's very, very risky and disappointing on the part of this manufacturer, especially with Yamaha's 900 offering across the street. A false announcement to create buzz around this new model? To be continued. Rating : 3/5

French XavierC Model 2018
When I got my license in '73, it was a little too extreme for me, but with age and experience, it's still fun. On the other hand, if it's a way of ripping us off, like with the nine T I got in 2014...! then basta... If they know how to stay consistent (I saw a price of 13,000 sud..! ), we'll see... In any case, from the looks of it, it's got it all (in orange).
Au plaisir
Thank you

Z900RS
French Jeff2A Model 2018
We can only applaud Kawa's latest neo-retro initiative with this vintage Z900, which hunts directly in the territory of the Yam XSR900...the Honda CB1100RS being far more expensive and, above all, far less efficient, with elephantine weight and calf-like power. What's far less pleasing is the Yam-like inflation in price, since compared to the roadster from which this one is derived, you have to shell out an extra 1000 euros. Still, it's more reasonable than a BMW nine-T, whose price keeps rising. Rating : 5/5

Finally, a return to the basics of motorcycling, simple and pretty. As for the price, you're right, it is rather expensive. Let Suzuki bring out an Inazuma with 2000 â'¬ less and we'll laugh. Rating : 4/5

Very nice, this single, sober, stainless-steel pot (except on the green version, where they've given in to the all-black trend again...). The 4-outlet (or 2-outlet) pot is useless these days, and makes the bike even heavier. They've apparently worked on the sound and also the engine, so that there's more torque down low than on the Z900. We'll wait to see the real thing, and especially the price.... Rating : 4/5
Superbe Kawa Z900RS 2018
French lefuté Model 2018
If the plumage as well as the ramage match this new retro from Kawa, and after a TWO-way trial, bingo! This will be my new jewel for spring. The red's too bright, the black's a bit too much for me, the green with its GI look, I love it, phew, my wife loves it too :-) Rating : 4/5
Beautiful machine reminiscent of the motorcycle style I knew well in the 1970s. The front end deserved a double horn to better balance the visual. Without going as far as 4 pipes, a double exhaust like on the Honda CB 1100 would have been a plus. As far as I'm concerned, it's a direct competitor to the latter, and the comparison will be interesting. Rating : 4/5
