presentation of the VERSYS 1000 GRAND TOURER 2015
With its largely (and beneficially) revised design, this second-generation Versys 1000 finally adopts a visual aggressiveness in keeping with its dynamic behavior. Tailored for riding, far out into the countryside and not so much on the rocks, Kawasaki's trail bike boasts an atypical technical specification: 4-cylinder engine and chassis borrowed from the Z 1000 SX roadster, on-board electronics borrowed from the 1400 GTR and ZX-10R, H2R-style face - enough to arouse curiosity and tempt you with a trip with a sporty aftertaste.
even more so in this Grand Tourer edition. Already tried and tested on the previous-generation 1000 Versys, the Grand Tourer pack allows the traveler to pack a host of belongings. Two well-integrated suitcases, both in terms of design and fastening system, offer 28 liters of capacity, limited to 5 kilos each. To protect your cargo, "inner suitcase" bags are supplied. They provide an appreciable protective envelope, but reduce capacity to 27 liters per case. Yes, well, 2 liters less on a total capacity of 103 liters (with the top-case), we won't quibble. However, the previous 1000 Versys Grand Tourer did better: its less classy but larger luggage compartments increased capacity to 117 litres.
The aforementioned top-case opens up to 47 liters. Enough to stuff plenty of victuals or two full-face helmets. And it's great that all the luggage can be opened with the ignition key - a single key for all the on-board locks, which makes life so much easier.
Designed for long-distance touring, the Versys 1000 GT also comes with a set of long-range LED lights, a self-adhesive tank protection kit, and a series of small accessories. In all, the Grand Tourer package consists of the following items:
- Bag attachment kit
- 2 x 28 L panniers
- One-key pannier lock system
- Saddlebag lids
- Saddlebag stickers
- Saddlebag interiors
- Top case 47 L
- Top-case 47 L
- Platinum AL
- Top-case lid 47 L
- Top-case "one key" locking system
- Handguard support
- Plastic handguard
- Additional lights
- Fuel tank protection
- 12V accessory socket
- Relay
- Crankcase guards
- Gear indicator
Slightly heavier, wider and bulkier, this cargo version of the Versys 1000 will require a little more attention to detail when riding (especially in town), which is quickly erased once the horizon clears. The Versys knows how to be dynamic on the road, and is well equipped: 120 horsepower distilled with the suppleness of a 4-legged machine, ABS, three-stage KTRC traction control, anti-drible clutch and two power modes.

Bikers' reviews Leave a review - 5 reviews
1.5 years I have this machine 20.000kms
Good on-road and off-road riding
I'm 1.68 m tall, with a custom seat and a lowered bike, so I can ride it anywhere, in town or in the country
BUT...
Lack of cardan shaft
Missing headlight adjustment knob - for a tourer - look for the error
Ugly exhaust
Too bad!!!

it's a shame kawasaki deflated the engine to 120hp, 140hp would have been great and I'd have given it 5/5
i'm 1.85m tall and the original bubble is enough for me
i've got the grand tourer version and i can't see it without this pack Rating : 4/5 Respond to foinour04
I've just bought a Versys 1000 Grand Tourer and I'm enjoying riding again
it's a very pleasant bike to ride for everything, and also as a duo with my wife
I've owned it for 1 month
Before I had a FJR 2016 6 speed but too heavy
I'm reliving it and I wish you good rides!
