presentation of the Ninja 400 Performance 2018
A foggy morning, a shy sun or a threatening downpour.... Sometimes you might hesitate to grab the handlebars when you haven't had your fill of caffeine and photons. Suddenly, everything becomes clearer when the twin's yelps express themselves with conviction at the end of a sportier-than-original bowl. The Akrapovic logo on a few slices of titanium, finished off with a carbon cap, awakens the senses, and then the urge to hit the road takes over. This is how the Kawasaki Ninja 400 Performance stands out. With a muffler that smells of joy and raucous sound. The little sports bike takes on the feel of a ZX-R for young riders, with a touch of racing thrown in for good measure. The weight/power ratio is slightly improved, as the Slovenian envelope saves almost a horsepower and claims 1,300 grams less than the standard pot.
you slip on the helmet, gloves, jacket, phone inside, and if you don't mind the zipper.... A tank protector is there to take the scratches. On the Ninja 400, the Performance package is completed with a seat cover to make the look even sportier.
In fact, the word "sporty" is a bit of an exaggeration for this bike, which leans more towards Sport-GT, with its far-from-radical riding position and cheerful but not aggressive performance. Even with the Akra, let's not forget that the block is designed for A2s, so there's plenty of fun to be had, here with a better sound system. The eternal problem with machines in this category remains: a price tag close to that of mid-displacement roadsters, more generously powered and more rewarding - although this Ninja has a real mouth on it, which can tip the balance.
