Grand raid enthusiasts don't choose heavy machines like big trail-GTs. They need something muscular, dynamic and adventurous. Within the KTM range, there's a machine to satisfy demanding appetites without being extreme. Somewhere between the Adventure R and the 450 Rally Replica, the 890 Adventure R Rally.

This new model is based on the 890 Adv' R, with the "Rally" improvements already present on the previous generation. Among these, one of the most noteworthy is the adoption of more advanced suspension with even greater travel. The WP elements benefit from 270 mm of travel, and provide a ground clearance of over 30 cm - not far from what a pure enduro EXC-F offers.
As in 2021, the fork is an XPLOR PRO 7548 and the shock absorber an XPLOR PRO 6746. Top-of-the-range, fully adjustable equipment, which explains a large part of the price.

Since the previous 890 Adventure Rally, a number of components are new, such as the orange deco, a more enveloping aluminum engine cover, an anodized Supersprox-Stealth rear ring, cruise control, a new 5-inch TFT display, and a choice of new wheels. DID rims are replaced by Excel, while Karoo 3 tires are replaced by Mitas Enduro Trail. Protectors for the radiator and rear brake master cylinder have also been added.

The Akrapovic titanium silencer (1 kg lighter), special footrests, carbon-fibre tank protectors, special seat, shifter and additional Rally riding mode (optional on other 890 Adventure models) are still present.
And when it comes to electronics, the Rally has nothing to complain about. It features cornering ABS with deactivation option, 10-level angle-sensitive traction control, 6D inertial unit, wheeling control, engine slip control and 4 riding modes (Rain / Street / Offroad / Rally). The "Rally" mode, mentioned above, turns off anti-wheeling and adjusts engine response to suit more or less aggressive Rally, Offroad or Street conditions.

For Rally-raid use, the 450 Replica will be more effective. But the 890 Adv Rally is powered by a larger twin. The engine produces 105 hp and just over 10 mkg of torque. This gives it good vigor whatever the terrain, so you can ride the classic road in complete peace of mind, without making the engine howl. And with 20 liters in the tank, you can go on for miles.

this optimized version of the Adventure is nothing new. Katoche launched the idea with the 790 Adventure Rally in 2020. A limited series for demanding enthusiasts. The idea was taken up again in 2021 with the 890, still in limited distribution. 2024 heralded a new Adventure Rally tour, with 700 units distributed worldwide. It's a vast enough range to provide a whole host of ideas for challenges. This Rally intends to meet them. Pricing-wise, it's up to the challenge, too.

This 890 Adventure R Rally has received instructions from KTM. Or rather, a message and a proposal. 34 customers who pre-order the 890 Adventure R Rally 2024 will have the opportunity to take part in a big adventure, from 03 to 07 March 2024 or 07 to 11 March 2024, aboard an 890 Adventure R Rally supplied by KTM.

Thanks to an exclusive "KTM ADVENTURE PACKAGE", these 34 adventurers will have the opportunity to join legends such as Johnny Aubert for three days on the same route as the Rallye Du Maroc. They'll experience a race through the dunes, on epic asphalt and gravel roads, where the KTM FACTORY RALLY team tests their machines and endurance to the max.
On the menu: transport shuttles, 4 nights' luxury hotel accommodation, 1 night's desert accommodation, official licenses, and a dedicated course designed by an expert in the field. The tour costs €4,900 per person and will be organized by third-party tour operator Offroad Adventure Tours.

Online pre-orders for the KTM 890 Adventure R Rally begin on September 20 at 5 p.m. on the official KTM website. A new rush to sell out in just a few hours. And it'll work...
