presentation of the 500 EXC-F 2026
With the 500 EXC-F, obstacles will be sweating. This is one of the most hardened machines in the Katoche range.
Engine
The KTM 500 EXC-F's SOHC engine is undeniably powerful. Weighing in at just 29.5 kg, it's remarkably light for the power it unleashes. Designed with the centralization of mass in mind, this hard-hitting war machine boasts a low center of gravity for exceptional handling, roadholding and anti-squat behavior.
Off-road control unit
The offroad control unit under the saddle replaces electronic fuses and relays. All outputs are continuously activated, depending on signals from the voltage regulator and the motor control unit. In the event of overcurrent, they are deactivated individually, making it easy to detect malfunctions, as the status of each output is indicated by a red or green LED. Simply lift the saddle to diagnose technical problems, without the need for fuses.
Battery and wiring harness
Like the rest of the EXC-F 4-stroke range, the 500 EXC-F is equipped with a proven, reliable electric starting system. Powered by an ultra-lightweight 2 Ah lithium-ion battery, this highly reliable electric starter is not about to let you down. Most of the electrical components in the wiring harness are grouped together under the seat for easy access.
Ergonomics
The KTM Enduro's autonomy is characterized by a rider-centric body position triangle, offering better contact with the knees - especially when standing on the pegs - and improved grip surfaces all around. The fairing has been designed to limit mud accumulation in wet conditions. The flat-profile saddle and grippier seat cover ensure exceptional mobility and control for the rider. The polyamide-reinforced aluminum rear buckle offers unrivalled feel and feedback, so you only have to worry about the terrain ahead.
Exhaust
To give the 500 EXC-F even more bite, the exhaust system has been designed to deliver optimum power with minimum weight. The ultra-compact 2-piece exhaust manifold runs as close as possible to the engine, for maximum mass centralization and minimum exposure to stones. A short, compact silencer in lightweight aluminum with a high-end matte-black coating is fitted at the end.
CPC fuel connector
A protective cap is used for the CPC fuel connector on all models. This not only prevents dirt from entering the sides of the connector and opening it by mistake, but also protects it from being struck by sticks or stones. The small fuel filter located in the fuel hose remains in place and is easily accessible.
Quickshifter (optional)
Clutchless shifting is the name of the game with the Quickshifter option. The ignition is interrupted for a fraction of a second, allowing you to change gear without using the clutch lever, with the throttle fully open. Technically speaking, a sensor on the selector drum registers the force of the shifter and sends the signal to the control unit, interrupting the ignition timing to engage the next gear. The shifter can also be deactivated via the map selector, and is active only from 2nd to 6th gear.
Traction control (optional)
The optional traction control function makes riding on muddy and wet terrain easier. It analyzes the rider's action on the throttle and the increase in engine speed. If engine speed rises too quickly, the engine management system interprets this as a loss of grip and limits power to the rear wheel, for maximum traction. This function can, of course, be completely deactivated for total control.
Selectable mappings (optional)
Designed for ease of use, the map selector, available as an option on all EXC models, makes it easy to choose between 2 unique engine maps. Standard map 1 delivers more linear, predictable power, while map 2 is more aggressive, offering greater throttle response and more explosive, bracing power.
Frame
Specially designed for longitudinal rigidity, the autonomy of KTM's Enduro range is built around a black powder-coated frame that offers exceptional rider feedback, energy absorption and high-speed stability. Rotating masses have been repositioned in the frame, and a forged nut has been added to the steering column. The footrest supports are slim to reduce the risk of snagging. And when it's time to stop, the bike can be supported by a forged one-piece side stand.
Rear buckle
An ultra-lightweight 2-piece rear buckle in polyamide-reinforced aluminum is installed at the rear of the main frame. Its rigidity has been calculated by digital fluid mechanics software to guarantee first-rate handling and feedback to the rider. This compact rear loop also offers greater flex and flexibility in the event of a fall, to limit breakage. Electronic components are fully integrated, without superfluous brackets or fixtures.
WP XACT closed-cartridge fork
The tried-and-tested 48mm WP XACT closed-cartridge fork has been updated with shorter, lighter main springs with a polished surface, improving durability and reducing weight by 200 grams. As a result, the fork offers ultra-high performance in all conditions. And best of all, the fork is fully adjustable in compression and rebound without the need for tools.
WP XACT shock absorber
The benchmark in the KTM Enduro arsenal, the PDS rear shock absorber concept considerably improves the chassis' anti-squat behavior. It remains the most reliable and maintenance-free option for competitive Enduro racing. A lightweight PDS WP XPLOR shock absorber is mounted at the rear. The rear shock settings have been updated, improving the pressure balance inside the shock. With constant damping and full adjustability thanks to easy-to-use hand-operated notches for on-the-fly adjustments, the set-up remains ideal.
Stability
The KTM Enduro's range remains rock-solid at any speed, thanks to a repositioned, forged steering column and CNC-machined fork clamps. Made from high-grade aluminum, these guarantee optimum steering spindle rigidity, perfect fork tube alignment and precise fork bridge geometry, ensuring smooth, responsive fork action and flawless stability during ultra-fast specials.
LED headlight
KTM's Enduro range is equipped with a headlight control unit and an LED headlight plate. The latter protects the fork crown from roughness and eliminates the need for rubber mounting straps for a better fit. The LED unit significantly improves lighting for a totally new night-time experience.
