presentation of the 690 SUPERMOTO 2010
one of the genres in which KTM particularly distinguishes itself is that of provocation (its orange, which blows up in your face like ovomaltine, is an unmistakable signature). So, when it came to renewing its single-cylinder Supermoto, Katoche didn't hesitate to go over the top.
gone is the gentle, standardized design of the 640; the new 690 is equipped with a real face that'll have you glued to your retina. A blend of origami, sharp angles and pure SM solutions, KTM's latest creation is a real invitation to get wild. Especially with a mono that looks like it's been unpacked from a "racing parts" crate.
the 690 supermoto is equipped with a 653 cm3 single-cylinder engine (why 690 as a name then???) worthy of a race preparation ) worthy of a racing preparation: keihin fuel injection with butterfly valve, throttle assist, very compact cylinder head thanks to a single overhead camshaft, hollow intake valves, central balancer, anti-dribble clutch, improved lubrication, 3 kg loss compared to the 640, and a whopping 64 horsepower supplied by the piston. Let's speculate a little: if you remove the 2 huge vertical silencers required for Euro 3 and allow the mono to breathe deeply, I wouldn't be surprised if the moulbif produced as much horsepower as a 1st-generation Suzuki SV 650, with a p..... of lumberjack kick.
Around the 17" rims, nothing less than sport tires - at the front, an inverted fork 48 mm in diameter (practically what MV-Agusta uses on its F4 1000s) finished with a radial brake caliper hammering the single 320 mm disc - at the rear, it's rock'n'roll with a swingarm that shows off its reinforcing ribs to good effect. In between, a tubular trellis frame provides lightness and rigidity. it's going to shred tires and asphalt...!
152 kg without fuel, 64 grunts, KTM's sporty, off-road spirit right down to the bolts... With this quasi-factory millstone in your garage, and then quickly on the roughest roads possible to get a hell of a kick out of it, this civilian supermotard, among the ballsiest on the market, has not finished making many salivate. As always, a pure Katoche is not for the faint-hearted or the hesitant: don't expect delicate comfort, and don't expect to pay a hefty budget: the SM cost more than €8,000 when it came out, not including physiotherapy sessions. Fortunately, prices are starting to come down, and now stand at less than €7,000.

A powerful single, as long as you stay within the right operating range (between 5,000 and 8,000 rpm), a rigorous chassis that makes you feel confident, and outstanding liveliness
The ideal toy for those who love small country roads, climbing and descending mountain passes, or simply urban commuting. Rating : 5/5 Respond to powerpiou
Rating : 5/5 Respond to antoine
powerful, playful, joyful engine that sends the front wheel up in the air at the drop of a hat
But when you're not on a bend or in the city, you'll find it hard to catch the wind at 110km/h, and mosquitoes will crush your helmet and chest, etc. etc
In short, a bo toy to play with in the bends only
The same model with a more "trail" look would be more viable Rating : 5/5 Respond to streetman
