the KTM Duke is quite simply the wildest, trashiest single-mode roadster there is. In keeping with KTM tradition, an R version is also available, as on all the main models in the range. Here we have a superb interpretation of the sporty mono. The Duke R's unique look is an immediate slap in the face; just enough to make the machine's protruding edges a little more violent. Spoke rims, sport tires, an industrial building girder-style swingarm, insane braking with radial caliper and stunning fork head are no different from the standard Duke 3. The front fender, here in carbon, and the frame, painted orange like all Katoche R models, are more different, as are the inner workings of the beast.
the single-cylinder stroke has been increased by 4.5 mm to give a true displacement of 690 cm3; the normal Duke has a displacement of just 654 cm3. Lighter piston, revised injection and ignition, new connecting rod and crankshaft, and look out, 70 horsepower on tap. Truly impressive for an engine of this type. The LC4 also announces increased torque, available earlier. If I remind you that the Duke weighs just 148 kgs, you've just hit the nail on the head... The machine is formidable! Without changing the suspension, KTM has revised the hydraulics for greater efficiency. As on the hypersports models, we also have a choice of 3 injection mappings - the only problem being access to the control box to change the mapping. The other minor concern is the price asked for this diabolical machine...
