presentation of the 990 Adventure R 2012
like its cousins, the KTM Adventure has its own R version. Its presentation goes hand in hand with the facelift of thestandard Adventure. With the new SM-R and SM-T, Katoche has really got the wind in its sails in 2009 when it comes to off-road sport and travel.
a sporty version of a big road-going trail bike, that was daring! So what has the orange brand come up with for this replacement for theold S version ? Firstly, more flexibility, more power, less vibration thanks to a new crankshaft, and no less than 17 extra horsepower from the LC8 block. The Adventure R boasts 115 hp for 207 kg - and that's saying something! The WP suspensions have been improved, with increased travel from 210 to 265 mm at both front and rear.
the 2 kg gained over thestandard Adventure won't be noticeable, and neither will the slight facelift on the tourer. Discreet but present pencil strokes make their presence felt on the fairing, while retaining that massive, cut-throat look. More serious than radiant, the colors chosen oscillate between dark and striking. The matte black exterior is adorned with touches of white, discreetly enhanced by an orange frame and a narrower, two-tone seat. A new dashboard completes the package, for this grand dame of the roads who's just waiting to get riled up on her handlebars.
