presentation of the 300 EXC Six Days 2012
the 300 EXC "ready to race" for the world's biggest enduro championship, the famous "International Six Days Enduro". Six days in a row, over a thousand kilometers of terrain, 40 hours in the saddle: it's not just the rider who's put to the test. The 300 EXC can be prepared with a whole range of top-of-the-range accessories for this exceptionally tough race, at the start of which, every year, half the riders bet on KTM. The 300 EXC Six Days: the only authentic bike with the orange frame of the factory KTM Team. Whenever brutal propulsion is called for, the 300 EXC is the answer. Its two-stroke engine is a true marvel of torque and incredible power, making the most of the bike's featherweight. With even more power and a completely reworked chassis, the 300 EXC is the ideal machine for the next enduro, cross-country or hardcore.
new intake pipe, new airbox, new cylinder
The new cylinder, with its short control times, in combination with the new airbox and flow-optimized intake flange between airbox and carburetor, ensures better engine breathing. As a result, the water-cooled two-stroke revs even better and delivers more power across the entire rev range.
adjustable exhaust control and ignition curve
The response of the torquey two-stroke can be adjusted in three positions by changing the TVC exhaust control springs. What's more, the 300 EXC rider can choose between two different ignition curves thanks to an optional connector or switch.
new frame
The completely redesigned frame in top-grade chromium-molybdenum steel boasts even greater lateral torsional rigidity. It also provides even better shock absorption, further enhancing the 300 EXC's handling and comfort.
new swingarm, new PDS, new tuning
Lighter, the 300 EXC's new forged aluminum swingarm houses the shock absorber even more centrally, for better load distribution. The new PDS suspension, 7 mm (0.28 in) longer, with High-/Lowspeed rebound and compression damping adjustment, is mounted flatter, offering greater progression.
retuned telescopic fork
The 300 EXC features the latest WP upside-down fork, with a wider adjustment range and a new focus. The sensitive response and excellent damping of the open cartridge fork with 48 mm (1.89 in) tubes contribute to the 300 EXC's extraordinary handling and precision.
new wheels
The new wheels could hardly be lighter and more stable, with their machined hubs, Excel rims, zinc/nickel-coated spokes and aluminum nipples. This reduces unsprung and gyroscopic mass, contributing to the 300 EXC's extraordinary manoeuvrability.
engine power and weight
The relatively simple technology of the two-stroke engine offers undeniable advantages, including high power per liter and low weight. Thanks to the latest modifications, the 300 EXC is virtually unbeatable in terms of its power-to-weight ratio. The result: unrivalled performance and exceptional manoeuvrability.
bodywork
The 300 EXC's new bodywork, with its slim seat and spoiler lines and excellent contact points, further enhances ergonomics and makes it even easier and more precise to ride. The longer mudguard protects the rider even more effectively against stone chips.
