presentation of the 300 EXC 2015
The 300 EXC has already proved its worth in numerous off-road competitions. The combination of rock-solid 2-stroke performance, exceptional torque and an extremely manoeuvrable chassis make it the motorcycle of choice when it comes to making an impact. No other production motorcycle on the market boasts such an attractive weight/performance ratio as the 300 EXC. The compact two-stroke engine delivers the highest performance currently available in the E3 class. The perfectly matched exhaust valve ensures controllable power delivery, while the 6-speed gearbox, specially tuned for enduro riding, always offers the right ratio.
frame
The modern design of the 300 EXC's frame in lightweight, high-strength chromium-molybdenum steel tubing combines maximum longitudinal rigidity with optimum torsional rigidity. This not only ensures good handling and precise steering, but also excellent ride stability. The new frame not only shines in its new colors, but also clearly sets new standards in terms of weight and stability. The frame of this 2015 version shines in the same orange as the KTM factory team models, making its design even more attractive. It's also easier to maintain and offers more space for the fuel tank and other components. The frame design, combined with the PDS rear shock absorber, optimally dissipates rear-wheel shocks.
swingarm
The cast aluminum swingarm has been designed with the aid of state-of-the-art calculation and simulation software; the design and wall thickness ensure minimum weight for optimum strength and a perfectly defined flex.
suspension / damping
The KTM 300 EXC features individual suspension tuning perfectly matched to its weight and engine. The high-quality WP suspension components have been specially designed for enduro use, ensuring maximum grip and comfort. at the rear, a PDS shock absorber with direct connection above the swingarm. The fork's wide rebound range and Highspeed and Lowspeed compression damping come as standard with KTM.
fork crowns
The fork crowns have been specially designed for enduro use, ensuring precise handling by supporting the fork flex. The rider receives precise feedback from the front wheel even on the toughest terrain, increasing safety and speed.
fairing
The fairing has been designed with ergonomics and functionality in mind, so that every detail of the bike is in perfect harmony with the rider.
air box
The ingenious design of the airbox ensures optimum protection of the air filter from dirt, and maximum air flow for enhanced performance. The airbox covers are manufactured using a two-component process, with new "Inmould" graphics. Filter replacement is quick and tool-free. Two additional tabs on the cover also allow it to be secured with screws.
handlebars
All EXC models are equipped with extremely sturdy Neken tapered handlebars made from a solid aluminum alloy. The tried-and-tested KTM system enables the handlebars (now black anodized) to be fixed in a choice of four positions. For the 2015 model year, the handguards are made from a new material that ensures greater impact resistance.
tachometer
The new MAE tachometer integrates all indicator lights into a single component (with the exception of those for the turn signals). The cockpit is thus clear and uncluttered, making the available information easy to read.
wheels
The wheels feature new Giant 7050 T6 aluminum rims, with black-coated spokes, lightweight aluminum nipples and CNC-machined hubs, guaranteeing maximum stability for minimum weight. Maxxis enduro tires specially developed for KTM offer perfect grip and excellent performance.
brakes
High-tech Brembo brakes have long been standard on KTM off-road bikes, with lightweight Wave disc brakes for optimum braking performance. Best-in-class enduro brakes, they remain unchanged on this 2015 version.
optimized engine
For this 2015 version, the engine benefits from a new TVC exhaust valve setting, which opens at 200 rpm higher. As a result, power delivery is smoother and more homogeneous. The ignition curve has been optimized for this new TVC setting. The carburetor setting has also been improved for optimized, more homogeneous engine characteristics.
electric starter
The intermediate gear ratio for the electric starter has been shortened to ensure even safer starting of the electric motor with higher starting torque.
ignition housing
A new ignition housing with a new gasket has been developed for the 2015 KTM 300 EXC. Even the clutch cover gasket has been optimized to further isolate the unit.
