the main changes to the 690 Enduro R date back to 2012. Mainly to the engine: the 654 cm3 is replaced by the 690 cm3 of the Duke R. Power peaks at 67 hp. The silhouette was slightly revised, as were the suspension and ergonomics. For 2014, the single-cylinder model benefits from dual ignition and a Ride-by-Wire system. The chassis is also well cared for, with weight down to under 140 kilos, and a fork with separate damping circuits (left fork for compression, right for rebound) that can be adjusted independently. ABS is fitted as standard, and the 9M+ version can be deactivated. As an option, you can treat yourself to off-road ABS, allowing rear-wheel locking while retaining front-wheel anti-lock braking.
With its EXC range, the Austrian manufacturer has something for everyone, from the simplest enthusiast to the toughest enduro pro. These are very distinctive, exclusive machines, which can be used for anything from a warm place in the garage to a road-going machine. Katoche has opened up new horizons for its off-road range by combining its LC4 mono with studs and a hint of asphalt envy. Alongside the 690 Duke and 690 SM / SMC, the 690 Enduro is a new exploration ground for the big mono. More efficient, livelier and meaner, it's the 690 Enduro R.

with its orange frame, substantial seat height of 930 mm (made even more pronounced by the fact that the suspensions are 25 mm higher than on the standardEnduro), its sporty spirit evident from the trim to the headlight plate, this machine is clearly in a more muscular class than the BMW G 650 GS and Yamaha 660 XT-R, the only survivors of the mass-market single-cylinder trail bike breed. Intended to be effective on the road, the Enduro R is only truly enjoyable when the tarmac has disappeared. Dirt, a bit of dust, rocks and rough roads bring a smile to its face. The big piston and its 67 stallions are not the type to sit still, and they're capable of both winding up on country lanes (authorize, not do ;-) and setting a fast pace when the track is wide. Weighing in at just over 140 kilos dry, this machine can handle anything in normal conditions. However, in pure enduro, it can't compete with the EXCs, which are much lighter (30 to 40 kilos). It will therefore require more effort and anticipation for crossing and more technical areas. Without falling into the trap of extreme use, the 690 Enduro R can be adapted to everyday use, while still being able to play outside office hours.

Superb machine! Well-built, reliable and versatile, it'll take you anywhere with ease! Off-road, it's imperial: enduro singles, rolling tracks, technical trails, off-road passes (...) it makes light work of difficulties and gives you the feeling of being a pilot. The 150 kg don't make themselves felt, except perhaps when making a half-turn on a narrow track, blocked between two embankments for example, where it's inevitably less easy than an EXC. But apart from that, once it's up to 2 km/h, it's as good as an enduro (from my point of view). Its natural stability when stationary is amazing! On the road, well, it's always top-notch! The Lc4 is very pleasant to ride. For my purposes, the 68 hp are more than enough. On winding roads, it's a delight. On long, rolling country roads, it's just as good. On the fast lane at 110 km/h, the single purrs at around 4,200 rpm. Suspension settings are well calibrated and extremely accessible. A true trail bike, simple, with no major flaws. Rating : 5/5

As a recent user, I've been surprised by its great versatility. Efficient and dynamic on the road, it's no less reassuring and efficient on forest paths and rough terrain.
In short, it does everything well without being excellent on both terrains.
It's a good old-fashioned trail bike, the likes of which hardly exist any more.

Since 2013, the Enduro-Rs have been closer to the basic Enduro models from 2008 to 2010 than to the previous Enduro-Rs with 275mm suspension and mini headlight plate.
Since this year, the 690cm3 is the same as the Duke with ride-by-wire and dual ignition, paradoxically less brutal than the old 654, and even the suspensions are less stiff: personally a 30-year fan of gromono trails, I liked my 2008 690E, I prefer my new 690E-R purchased this June 12!
