The Mattighofen-based brand has devoted time and energy to the development of its SX-E 5. This was underpinned by ten years of expertise in electric motorization. The result is a competitive mini-bike with the same available power as the 50 SX, easy to maintain and quiet. The bike features six power modes, making it easy for beginners to get started with a machine badged "Ready to race", and for more experienced juniors to experience dynamic riding with the highest power mode. Thanks to its high-quality chassis designed by Austrian engineers, the SX-E 5, aimed at riders from three to ten years of age, is fully adjustable in terms of height; not least with the optional additional lowering kit. The bike can grow in capacity and size with the rider's age, a feature much appreciated on this type of machine.

capable of delivering a maximum power of 5 kW, the permanent magnet electric motor is extremely slim and compact, perfectly suited to the small chassis. Air-cooled and perfectly sealed against dust and water, the motor block is wear-free and maintenance-free. The integrated, state-of-the-art control unit guarantees immediate, yet easy-to-meter power delivery. Since propulsion is provided by a permanent magnet motor directly connected to the rear wheel, there's no need for a clutch or gearbox.
Powered by an 84-cell Lithium-Ion battery with a capacity of 907 Wh, housed in an ultra-strong, die-cast aluminum casing, the SX-Ethe SX-E 5's electric motor offers a range of almost two hours for a beginner rider, or around 25 minutes for the fastest riders in the junior category, depending on conditions and terrain. The integrated battery management system (BMS) ensures the safety and longevity of the accumulators.

the SX-E 5 is equipped with a rollover sensor that automatically switches off the motor in the event of a fall. A safety circuit-breaker (attached to the rider's wrist by a lanyard) is also provided for emergency situations. Riding modes can be memorized or locked by means of a dongle under the saddle, to prevent young riders from inadvertently switching to full power mode.

a remarkable compromise between longitudinal rigidity and torsional rigidity, the frame of this little cross-country bike is based on ultra-light, high-strength chromium-molybdenum steel sections. Equally lightweight, the rear buckle is made of glass-fiber-reinforced extruded plastic. It can be mounted in two different positions to suit different saddle heights. The combination of frame and rear buckle ensures easy, precise cornering, combined with great stability.

like its combustion counterpart, this electron-powered Katoche features XACT 35 air fork technology and a WP XACT shock absorber. The upside-down fork (with 35 mm tube diameter and 205 mm travel) is a sensation in terms of comfort, damping and directional stability. Younger riders will appreciate the air spring in the left fork arm, as they can simply use an air pump to adjust the damping to suit their weight.
The high-quality, highly efficient WP XACT shock absorber is connected directly to the new cast swingarm. It is fully adjustable and can therefore be tailored specifically to track conditions or rider preferences. The shock absorber offers 185 mm of rear suspension travel.

equipped with the same level of technology as standard-size motocross bikes, the SX-E 5 benefits from hydraulically actuated brake calipers and Wave discs front and rear.

the KTM uses a streamlined NEKEN handlebar, made from high-quality aluminum alloy for optimum stability and safety. It consists of a tube of variable diameter and thickness (28 mm in the central area, 22 mm in the bends and 18 mm in the grip area). This made it possible to fit a thinner ODI lock-on handle on the left side. The ODI vulcanized grip on the right-hand side is used to control the new throttle system developed specifically for electric propulsion. The slimmer diameter of the handlebar makes it easier and safer for young riders to hold. A protective wheel on the center bar shields the rider from rough contact.

the seat height of the KTM SX-E 5 can be adjusted to different positions. The standard seat height of 698 mm can be easily reduced to 653 mm by: 1) lowering the fairing/seat 2) changing the position of the rear shock absorber and lowering the front fork on the fork T-pieces. Even the smallest riders (aged 4 or under) can be lowered to 556 mm with the chassis lowering kit (available in the accessories catalog).

"The KTM SX-E 5 is a model we're really looking forward to seeing arrive at authorized KTM dealers. It features a top-quality chassis, like those of all our SX models, and offers outstanding handling thanks to its electric motor, which makes it both extremely fast and quiet. We have tested the bike with a wide range of riders: the complete beginner can take to the track straight away thanks to the machine's ease of handling, while a national-level rider can achieve the same lap times as with a combustion model, which is truly exceptional. The bike offers the rider ease of set-up, enabling him to use it for years to come, while gaining in speed, and minimal maintenance, with simple greasing of the chain as the main operation. The KTM SX-E 5 offers maximum safety thanks to the outstanding work of the electronics team, top-level performance and exceptional adaptability for the rider, making it a sensational new model in the KTM range", comments Joachim Sauer, senior offroad product manager at KTM.

I bought it for my small 6 year old son. Top motorcycle with all the settings, power, seat height. It gives confidence to children and parents alike. And without disturbing the neighbors.
