presentation of the Duke 890 GP 2022
When KTM models became R models, we knew that rigor, performance and even a little more would be taken up a notch. Then, when the announcement was made of a "GP" model for the Duke, many imagined the ultimate "scalpel". Perhaps with a meaner engine, killer suspension and brakes, and racing parts to sniff out the vibrators.......
None of the above. The "GP" designation is not there to prepare the slider, but to remind us of KTM's commitment to Grand Prix racing. The orange and black color scheme follows the theme of the MotoGP RC16. But not that of the official Red Bul KTM Factory team; actually the second official team, so to speak Tech3.
Sound familiar? Yes, last year's Tech3 edition Duke. It seems that Katoche is very satisfied with the performance of its French satellite, to the point of honoring it on this core-market roadster. But the gratitude isn't as great for the Duke. While this edition has gained a little orange all over, it has lost the little engine cover and Akrapovic pot. The seat cover, on the other hand, is still there.
So we ' re faced with a specific color scheme. As for the ultimate, it's not the recipient, but that doesn't mean it's calfskin. The 890 Duke is a particularly exhilarating machine to ride. The engine pumps out a generous amount of torque, backed up by a chassis that immediately makes you want to get out there and play. 115 horsepower, a 43 mm inverted fork and a Factory-tuned shock absorber, a sharp design, electronics all over the place and a dynamic riding position will encourage fans to get excited about riding.
The electronics are also the same on the GP as on the standard 890. A strong argument for the safety potential of this technological bazaar. A TFT instrument panel, three riding modes (four with the optional "Track"), angle-sensitive and deactivatable traction control, cornering-reactive ABS including a Supermoto mode to disengage on the rear wheel, anti-wheeling and LED lighting. The shifter is still optional. A shame, really.
Unlike the Tech3 L.E., the KTM 890 Duke GP will not be a limited series. Five paragraphs to talk about one more shade of Duke is as exciting as a TV news item.
