The GS saga began in 1980 with a surprising motorcycle: the R 80 G/S. It was the first trail bike to be powered by such a large engine. Over time, the GS continued to gain in displacement, power and technology. From 50 hp when it debuted in 800, it now boasts 145 hp with its 1300 flat twin. The world's best-selling large-displacement motorcycle, the BMW GS has earned a solid reputation for its versatility, comfort and performance on and off the road.
