from 2004 to 2024Thruxton: from racy Bonnie to fearsome cafra
the 900 Thruxton was born of a desire for a sportier Bonneville. Taking its name from an old race in England, the Thruxton 500 Miles, the machine revamps the engine with different camshafts and carburetors. More power, a pair of wristband handlebars, a friendly café-racer look and the Joe BAR Team is within reach.
2008 brings low handlebars and injectors, but the bike remains the same for a dozen years.
the first evolution is a radical change. The new Thruxton is derived from the 1200 Bonneville. Almost 30 more horsepower, a huge leap in torque, improved quality and a correspondingly higher price tag. As a result, the 1200 Thruxton is aimed at a more premium audience. An R version accompanies it, with better brakes, suspension and tires.
from 2020, the two Thruxton models will give way to an even higher-performance RS, with the twin boosted to 105 hp. The most powerful version of the "classic" 1200 twin is combined with an even better chassis. Enough to make this Thruxton one of the best cafras around.
a superb TFC version will be released in 2019, with full Öhlins suspension, an even more powerful twin, a carbon half fairing, top-of-the-range deco, two Vance & Hines silencers and a limited run of 750 units.
